WWL Station?

Ya it is kind of mean. I mean he is just another fan like all of us are.

At PCW they have TV's in the queues. They play continuous loops that aren't very long. If I hear the song "Hands Clean" by Alanis Morisette ever again, I will hurt 18 people. If Cedar Point ever introduced something like that, I would probably go kamikazi on the televisions. Leave it be, be traditional and have music in the queues.

Sam, 1200 riders per hour is not bad capacity.

I remember seeing that at Hulk. The looped video didnt really bother me, being 9 and all.
I dont really want t.v's.....unless they can come up with something cool and different than just a looped video......though I doubt it. I guess Im with Vince then, keep it traditional and play music.

Nope. Not at all, actually. Creating threads is one thing, but creating them just to "see your name in lights" is another thing altogether.

Gosh darn it, my telepathy receiver seems to be on the fritz. Dj, it's a good thing you and exit are here to tell us what other people are thinking. Because vanity must be the only reason people start lots of threads. It can't have anything to do with wanting to contribute to a beloved forum, or perhaps being bored with the pitiful few threads that are active.

I have a B.S. in psychology, and for what it's worth 'BS' is a very apt description. But one thing I did learn in my studies was that people are subject to observer bias. That is, people tend to take their own reasonings and attitudes and project them onto others around them. As I write this, I'm looking at your post, and I see a curious little number: 2820. You connect the dots. ;)

The park tends to have enough problems with their music... I can only imagine the problems with video would be worse...

Well my take is as follows:

I don't think these cool videos we're seeing are just for the website or TV commercials. Why couldn't they play the videos in line to build up the theme/story even more while you wait? Not only would this keep you occupied, but I think it would enhance the ride experience having just heard this little "legend" about Maverick.

CP is already commiting to theming with this ride, why not commit to the upkeep of 25 TVs and make the experience even cooler?

Mark

Alton Towers has some GREAT videos in their queues for their rides. Their coasters are a lot more themed than the ones at CP too though. But, I think it adds a lot to the experience of the ride. Then again, once you've seen it, you've seen it. But, if they're done really well, people become attached to them, so that's a good thing. Well, unless they decide to take them out like the auto-spiels on TTD and MF. Then it sucks.

Yeah. That's what I want to hear - the same damn 60-second clip (okay, maybe 3 clips) played on loop for 2 hours. Sounds like fun.

Brandon

Two great Ohio examples of video screens in queues that I can think of...
FOF at King's Island has a great preshow video segment, that is, when it's running.
Also, wasn't there a video preshow for DT at one point? I seem to remember seeing one, but mosly I remember the blank TVs within the queue. Kind of reminds me of the bird's nest infested monitor that used to hang along the steps under Mean Streak's station.
If they do it right and keep it up, a Maverick (M?) preshow could be great!
**EDIT: Not that there are only two rides with video screens in Ohio, rather, these were two examples I thought best fit the situation** *** Edited 11/13/2006 6:44:18 PM UTC by PREMiERdrum***

Dead Men Tell No Tales

I think it would be a great idea to have these video clips be played in the queue. The best option would be to do like Disney does and Dino Island at Geauga Lake. Have the normal line, but build a room within the White Water Landing Station that allows guests to view the film only once prior to entering the station. To me its a win win- not only does it entertain guests waiting in line, but it also builds more anticipation!

While they are rather old and outdated, I've always like the clips that play in line for Mantis and Raptor with the ride facts.

If that turns out to be the case, I'll be the one in line with headphones.;)

Who knows? Maybe we'll "luck out" and they'll have music instead. Lord knows I can never get enough "Love Shack".

Brandon

I don't like the 60 second clips either. Alton's clips are quite lengthy. So, you're guaranteed not to see the same part of the clip in a single wait in the queue.

I have an idea. They could be different with Maverick and do the stats like they do with Raptor and Mantis and have a DJ during part of the summer like they like to do. On other days they could play techno music. Millennium Force queue is good about playing that.

The monitors for Mantis, Mean Streak and I THINK Raptor used to play music videos. But considering those monitors are no longer used (that I know of) and were not installed for MF, WT, and TTD, I can't see them spending the money to install them for Maverick. I believe the DJ's that are used during the peak summer months are more cost effective.

Now...if they put a DJ into the WWL station and play Achey Breaky Heart, etc, then *I* will be the one needing headphones. *shudder*

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Maybe if they played "Tear In My Beer" over and over, it would help keep the lines short.

^^Just pay the DJ to say to anyone who asks to play it "Oh, sorry I dont have that.":)

On the other hand, I would like to see a DJ for Maverick.
