Them pics are heart breaking. I can not believe that CP is removing WWL. But lets be honest here, do people think its that best move to remove WWL which is the only family ride they have or the worst??
Yes and no... wwl was a good family ride but im sure that what they are removing it for will be even better...
That main picture was crazy. Yeah I hope they put in a floorless.
Oh yeah its "Removal" not removel.

As much as I am in favor of the removal of WWL, I have to say that this is by far the most "disgraceful" demolition of a ride I'd ever seen. I mean, there's no careful disassembling of trough pieces so that they may be stored somewhere and sold to another park or anything...just a bunch of carnage in the form of twisted metal. It sure does make that area look bare as well.
I wonder what they could possibly put in its place to make us all forget about its controversial demise...;) In the recent podcast interview, I believe Kinzel made it clear that he is confident that we will be in agreeance with their decision on the future of this piece of land.
Like always, we shall see...

I agree, CP bound. My emotions went from sad to happy the first time I saw those.
They then went back to sad again. Gonna take some gettin' used to, I guess.

I personally liked the pictures. I was surprised to see them so soon.
I can't wait to see what goes in WWL's place. It should be nice.
It seems like they may reuse the station.
It's very sad to see this ride go. It really looked great there in frontier town. I will never see anything but another log flume fit the place better. A watercoaster just wouldn't cut it. Neither would a roller coaster.
All I hope for is a ride that fits the word "frontier" both in words and in picture. If they build a coaster there, it HAS to go through the trees. They must salvage the trees.
Coaster Fanatic Since 2003
If you look at the area closely, it almost looks as if they removed a few trees just to clear out White Water Landing. Another thing you notice is it looks really clear through that area. What I mean by that is just by looking at the pictures, there doesn't seem to be much in that area as far as Trees. As far as White Water Landing being the only family ride, I disagree! You have the Cedar Point Merry go round, you have BlueStreak, Corkscrew, Matterhorn, CedarDowns, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Wild Cat, Cadilac Cars, and Dodgems.
I knew they werent selling or moving the ride, but for some reason I was imagining it being disassembled, not ripped apart. Great pics. Almost looks like a twister swept through. Really opens the eyes on how much space is in that area though.
Shawn Meyer, I honestly don't think my 2, 3 and 5 yr old sons that are under 42 inchs can go on Corkscrew, Blue Streak, Wildcat, Mine Ride or Matterhorn. I wish they could but I don't think so. WWL was the ONLY ride that had a drop for kids that age and up. Its kinda of warm up for them to get on rollercoasters.
Since it looks like there disassemling WWL neatly in the station they'll use it for a new flume or a watercoaster. They could make it more comact then WWL and still have room for a coaster. Its the best of both worlds the families are happy and the thrill seekers are too.
I can't believe I was on it just 2 weeks ago. Very weird feeling.
Great pictures Walt, very unexpected.

Thats what I thought when I rode it on the last day of the season.
In this picture you can see quite a bit of wood that looks fairly new: http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=2857
When I rode on the last day of the reason, it looked like msot of the wood ont he railings and in some other places had been replaced. Perhaps they will be reusing the station.
Wow looks like they went in with the bulldozers at full force with no concern of anything around it. I know they are tearing down a ride but I think it deserves a bit of respect. In the MidwayVision photos, it looks like some of the trees are even being damaged. I was really excited to see the removal pictures but these are really sad to see the twisted metal and fiberglass.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I wouldn't look to much into the newer looking wood. They tend to add things like that during the off-season to help increase safety, no matter the ride or the condition it's in. They also have to do some basic replacing of the wood just to keep it looking nice. The newest looking pieces of wood in that picture were added last off-season I believe, while the others on the hand rails were replaced within the last couple of seasons. I wouldn't be surprised though if they did reuse the station in some way.

I agree with vince, they don't gatta be so mean about it
"were going in a whole new direction"....backwords
That is sad. I look at that and remember the few days I worked that ride to pick up extra hours! I will miss White Water. Thanks for the pics. *** Edited 11/12/2005 10:52:43 PM UTC by BanMansheetis***
I just had a thought--looking at Walt's pictures and then reading the lastest posting on the CP blog: it looks like there will be a hideous concrete building to house Skyhawk's compressors sitting in front of the CCMR "train building" (before the lift hill).
I'm sure CP's already 100% planned for whatever theming they'll do (if any) outside that concrete building, but I personally think it would be neat if they could use the old "small lift" mill building from White Water Landing and/or the WWL storage building to stick on the outside of the concrete building--thus keeping the frontier theme and perhaps bringing back memories of WWL.
Of course, as I said, I know CP's already planned everything down to the last screw and bolt. Those decorative buildings may already have been demolished since Walt's photo shoot, anyway.
Are you there, Tony & Tyler?!

I agree with this. When I visited Indiana Beach I could ride their log ride and their interactive dark ride with my nephew Ian, who is 2 years old.
At CP he can ride the kiddy rides by himself but there are few rides we can ride together. Now its just the skyride and giant wheel at CP. I have to believe that what they put in WWL's place is going to have a higher height requirement. I hope I am wrong! CP please don't forget families because we are what bring in most of your money, not just teenagers who all want coasters! I like coasters too but you need to remember those who aren't big enough to ride them yet!
