WWK 2006

Pete,

it was called "The Wave" and was located where Boomtown/Kidworks is now.

That beast was large. It's how some of us that grew up near the park learned to swim! (thanks to a few good friends who never told me it was a wave pool at the time)

The Wave was cool, in the really crappy kind of way. HUGE water inlets that had a tendancy to (okay, at least once) get kids stuck to them, one (albeit gigantic) wave every 15 minutes (but the last quarter of an hour was "everyone out of the pool time" so it was really 3 waves an hour), and . . . well, I can't think of anything else.

But the handles to hold on to were cool!

It may not make sense but it also doesn't make sense to put seat belts on corkscrew

It does if the harnesses don't stay locked the entire ride....but you didn't hear that from me.

I have a question? Wasn't there a wave pool already at Geauga Lake in 2005 at Hurricane Hanna? If they're is what do they plan to do with that one?

The Wave was awesome. It would charge up for like 15 minutes and release that beast of a wave. So much better than those dinky waves they have now.

Coaster dad. That is a awesome scan. It brings back a lot of memories. That is the Geauga Lake that I grew up with. My family never had the money to go to CP. We always went to GL. Double loop was my first coaster not including the Little Dipper at Memphis Kiddie Park.

Shawn, the structure is still there (unless it's currently being demolished) But I don't think it was used since the 2004 season. Here is a link to the 2004 GL Park Map. This is a 2.61MB PDF file. The wave pool is to the left of the multicolored water slides.

Does any one know the stats on "Thw Wave" or the other one in Hurricane Harbor. I was just curious how they will compare to the new one they are building on the WWK side of the park.

Jason - Thanks, I have shared all my GL memorabilia for everyone to look at. I even have video of the old wave pool that might be up on the site soon if enough people want to see it.

The "wave" pool in HH was open until the close of the 2005 season, not 2004. It was open along with Shark attack and Calypso Creek in the old HH section as well as WWK that was quite a trek from one side to the other. Perhaps this is why you were not aware it was still open.

I am not sure of the exact stats on the sizes of the old wave or the HH wave although they did seem similar in size. The WWK wave will be 30,000-square-feet (down from the previous announcement of 38,000), 325 feet wide, 220 feet long and will gradually reach five and half feet deep.

Hopefully with the annoucement of the new wave pool, they annouce later in the season that you don't have to walk all the way back around. Hopefully they put that bridge back up so that way it makes the whole circle around the park again.

I admit I am a bit disappointed in them announcing just a wave pool for phase 2. I thought that the were going to announce way more than just a wave pool. I really hope that they either announce more later or build more without even announcing it.

Don't anger the Potato People.

Y'all ready for some serious sidewindin' in 2007?

Mean Streak 03

Those were the days.

It's better than nothing I guess.
