WWK 2006

The first phase of WWK is finished and it looks very impressive. Thunder Falls is my favorite there and Liquid Lighting is very cool too. But now there getting ready for phase two. What can we expect for this phase? I'm hoping for a toilet bowel slide, master blaster, and a good wave pool (even though we know there getting one anyway).

toilet bowel slide,

That cannot be good on so many levels.

When I was at WWK back in August, I thought the water had a really bad taste to it, so maybe a bowel slide would fit the theming...

I believe they (and most waterparks) add something to their water that discourages kids from swallowing it.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Right...

Wicked Twister90, Just so you know you are writing BOWEL. As in Bowel movement.....

You should try Bowl!

Your posts will not sound as scary and gross.

Honestly,

I think all we're getting is the wave pool. That is all the website now has posted for 06. The Lake did well this year, but they didn't get as big of a boost as they said they wanted. I heard a ride op at the Bel Aire Express tell a guest the expected growth was 46%. I think Phase II mya be scaled back.

It is my understanding that the park saw a 19% jump in attendance in July. And I bet that that grew even more in August. While that isn't what Cedar Fair wanted, you must say that its a good jump from previous years.

And if you want to bring in more people, why cut back on things that will bring people in?

where can you find the statement on the GL web site for 2006 about them only getting a wave pool?

Your not really suppossed to drink the water...lol. I think they Wave pool will be there next year. They also said they would add a swimming bar, where guests 21(like me) can swim up and have a drink. How do I know? Because when you look at the map of the 2 year phase of Geauga Lake, you can see there is a wave pool. My question though is this. Would they relocate the waterslides that are still in Hurricane Hannas area? That the question I'd like to know.

Of course they're going to relocate (or eliminate) that stuff. It doesn't make any sense to have the water park split in half like that.

It may not make sense but it also doesn't make sense to put seat belts on corkscrew, add 2" of padding to Mine Ride and Mean Streak, not allow cameras on CP & LE RR, make Magnum ride ops stand behind pillars, staff the freeway merge points when there's no Freeway anymore, make every rider hop in the MF test seat, put an Intamin Bobsled in a box, charge $9 for parking and $3 for pop, or to prevent employees from parking in the Soak City lot on low-crowd days.

But, you know, that's Cedar Point, not Geauga Lake and I'm sure there's a different mindset over at GL where decisions are actually infused with logic. Right?

I'm just saying "don't count on it" unless you've seen pictures from the future.

Nice.

I just want to say paying $9.00 for parking isn't too bad. The pop being $3.00, now that's bad. If you charged that much on RCT, no one would buy one. The padding actually made Mean Streak a little more comfortable. I know your not suppossed to relax on a wooden coaster, but it helps. I think we will see the price of Admission go down. I don't want to take any more guesses of how low can we go.

$9 to park is outrageous. $3 for pop is outrageous.

It's called price gouging. Customers have no other option (or perceive no other option) and therefore have to pay it.

Doesn't the $9.00 parking have to do with The City of Sandusky though?

Partly, but not totally. CF shares the biggest chunk of blame for $9.00 parking. I doubt much more than a buck goes to parking taxes.

I thought the parking tax got shot down.

It did in Sandusky.

Heres a crazy thought. Maybe they're saving their money for the next coaster. I hope its not the first 500 foot coaster. Thats the next topic anyway. My question is why is Geauga Lakes Parking $9.00 for parking? I mean it should be $5.00 because Geauga Lake is a smaller park then Cedar Point. Geauga Lake is growing up again under new ownership and it will take them next year and another year to compete with Cedar Point. What was Geauga Lakes Attendance numbers this year? Did they go up, down, average?
