WT/Oceana Midway still dead?

Back on the 13th, there was absolutely nobody in line for Wicked Twister - nobody. At times while waiting in the station, there was no one in the queue.

Now even with the addition of WT and the addition/move of Chaos and Troika, do you think that it's still/once again dead back there?

I bet it will be, especially because it is so far from most other rides.

This can be a good thing though. It means no lines for people who know and like those rides :)

When we went back there WT had about a 1/2 hour line.

Don't forget about the 5 minute wait while they made the cheese on a stick Etrain. ;)

Chaos was walk on, and I didn't look at Troika^3, so no idea there. It's early in the season... maybe as people figure out where Chaos went, (many of my friends thought they removed it for good) it'll get people to hang out in that section a little more... hope not! I like short lines on Wicked Twister.

On the 13th, there weren't lines for anything short of Millennium, Dragster, and Raptor, as far as I could tell. We probably won't know until the season progresses.

Any time I've gone on WT the wait has been 1/2 hour +. Fact the overall foot traffic on that midway has gone up considerably especially with Chaos and Troika there now. No, that midway will never be as busy as the main midway, but it is a lot busier now than say two years ago.

A couple of years ago the Gazebo food stand used be closed frequently. Now, it's always open when I walk past. That's a pretty good indication that traffic has gone up.

Speaking of the Gazebo area, anyone else notice that the ever mysterious concrete posts around the back side of the Coliseum, Peanuts Playground, Gazebo, and Schwabinchen/Chaos site now have a fence?

Yes, because I tried to get into the building that way to find they finally installed the fence. Better three years later than never, I suppose!

You have to ask the WT entrance host for a more def. time if it says 30 min. for reasons I won't get into. If it says 30 min it's less... take it from me.

The season hasn't started at all yet, and it's been darned cold as well (making turnout even worse). I can almost guarantee, though, that the lines will be more than what they have been after, say, memorial day wkend or so...

I was just thinking of a way to bring more intrest to this side of the park. My thought was of a wet willies/fat tuesday. I could see lines of frozen drinks (some virgin for the kiddies), jimmy buffett blaring, maybe even some karaoke. I think it would be a good time. Maybe where ocean motion now is. I'd love to sit on a large balcony facing the lake relaxing with a daiquiri (sure to be $10) in hand. I think it would be very relaxing on a 90 degree day... Never know, I can keep dreaming though.

It would be fun to have a Jimmy Buffet/Tropical theme going there with the beach and all. Maybe they could even do it on the boardwalk that is technically "outside" the park on the beach. That way hotel guests could enjoy it even when they weren't in the park, but it could still bring people to the wt midway.

I think they need to find a way to get another major ride over there, then it wouldn't be so dead, as it is all thats over there is twister and disaster transport, and some may argue that DT isn't a major ride anymore, although i love the thing, it just dosen't draw people back there, if you want to liven it up a bit, take out ocean motion and the buildings next to it, and put in another coaster, (not sure if that would work, can't remember whats behind them) then more people would feel inclined to walk all the way back there

I think they should put a Giant HUSS ride or coaster to the parking lot side of DT. That would definately increase the attendance in that midway and spread out the guests and shorten some lines :)
NOTE: Im not trying to start a "where to build a new coaster topic" (I hate them anyway)

Nowadays it's pretty dead back there... but my understanding is that right now it's that way for most of the park.

If you see the sign say 30 minutes, it could be a walk-on... our sign wheel doesn't have a 1/4 hour setting.

I would also love to see a couple more rides and some Jimmy Buffet or tropical themeing. You wouldn't believe how many Parrotheads there are (I've been one for almost 30 years).

You know what would have made this place busy if they would have put dragster on the beach and twister on dragsters spot but I also enjoy the short lines on wicked twister!
