Can you say you have no idea what you're talking about? No platform can compensate for people who press submit too many times.

Hell no... slow interpreted scripting languages are bad enough, but Perl is just a mess.

Can someone tell me what exactly Perl is? :-)

It's an ancient scripting language that was used for some of the first dynamic stuff on the Web. It's slow, the syntax is ugly and no one should be using it anymore.

It's also designed for the faster Unix/Linux systems. Windows and Mac systems tend to run Perl a whole lot slower.

I love playing with that stuff in the labs. Drive the profs crazy. ;)

Well, I'm very sorry the message posted too many times. That's never happened to me before. I didn't mean for that to happen, and I appreciate you fixing it since it was very obnoxious. Thanks.

But since jeff is still using the lovely windows platform he is gonna run asp. Even though asp is worthless, and less stable. But if you wanna compare brain pans sometime there jeff, mine is ready.

I wouldnt mess with Jeff and computers. He knows his toys.

cheeseonastick, I'm sure a lot of people here know some things about computers. I know quite a bit. So I don't think it's just Jeff who knows a lot. :) I've seen a lot of replies on the forums from people who know there toys. I myself have been tinkering with computers since I was a wee little thing. Now, I've built and "programmed" I don't know how many. Failed several times. :) Wouldn't you know it, I've majored in something unique.... Look at my Signature. :)

I think Perl is mostly popular with the Unix people, one of our guys uses it with a Sun Solaris system. Personally, I have no use for it, I like asp just fine. I've been checking out some of the MS .net stuff and it's pretty cool. They are on the right track and are doing lots of things right. Windows XP is a damn nice platform.

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

Asp is based on Microsofts Visual Basic programming language. Perl/Cgi is based on C++. Which one would you pick? :)

-----------------

LOL, Even though I prefer LInux over windows, I have to admit, I repartitioned my hardrive and installed Windows XP. Probably because it's Microsoft's answer to Unix.

I choose Visual Basic the cheaters programming language :), but for stability I choose C++, the language of the nerds. Hi, my name is Chris and I'm a nerd. ;).

I'm sure we can find a way to relate this thread to CP somehow....

Stability? Are you insane? One misplaced pointer and you're screwed with C++. Unless you're computing a cure for cancer or balancing the federal budget, you don't need to use it.

Perl isn't C-based at all.

If perl isn't C based, what did they base it on? This isn't me being an*****and trying to prove my point still. This is purely an information seeking question.
