That was worth watching just to see the two trains passing eachother that closely.

That was one of the things the crews tryed to do. If the trains were running on time, they would pass eachother on the original in-bound and out-bound main's like that.
:)
If only there was more footage of the Railroad from the early years... ;)
From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~
I have very vivid memories of the Mill Race from that same angle, but I always knew it with Blue Streak in the background. It seems so odd to see the mill race with no Blue Streak. What a great video. I never realized the difference in the park from the early 60's to the early 70's. It really puts a point on the fact that the park is always changing.
Every year, it seems, someone suggests that Paddlewheel Excursions (ie "Western Cruise) should be done away with to make more room for the park. Watching the old videos makes me happy that that never happened. In fact, kudos to park officials for moving forward (Millennium Force on the island) but still seeing the importance of keeping a traditional ride like Paddlewheel. As a captain from the late '80s, I'm amazed at how much of the original animation has remained!
I agree. Some of the older portions of the park are my favorite.

Captain - The late 80's were my heyday as far as riding PWE, and I actually haven't ridden it since the early 90's. I remember that, when arriving back at the dock, the captain would warn us about the bump (from hitting the dock) by saying (as close to verbatim as I can remember):
A bump up front, a bump out back, and a big jerk behind the wheel...
Is that still a part of the dialogue?
Great videos, by the way! :)
Brandon
dj, I do recall that line the last time I rode PWE (last year).
Being the old fart I am, I recall the "pop" guns we were given to "shoot the robbers" from the train.
The double ferris wheel scared the living crap out of me when I was a kid.
The Scamper was a wooden mouse coaster, if I recall correctly. I didn't ride it because I was afraid of roller coasters and didn't take my first ride on Blue Streak until 1970. Scamper was gone by then.
I have a picture of the Rocket Ride on my website from 1966.
I'm very much looking forward to getting home from work so I can watch those videos on YouTube!!
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

I am currently uploading the 1963 film footage uncut, except for about 5 minutes of marching band footage where you couldn't see anything... hope you weren't in a marching band at CP in 1963. The original 1963 film was cut down from about 35 minutes. But you nuts forced me to rerecord it to the pc and put it up again. Youtube has a 100 mb limit and/or 10 minutes,,, so it will be in parts 1-3... have the links when I finish 3...
Here are the final versions of CP 1963,,, enjoy and thanks.
