WOW! 9 minutes of C.P. in 1963

Just found this video on Youtube. Amazing shots of park back then. Water rides, double ferris wheels, dodgems. Check out Boneville at about the 6 minute mark, and high-dive act at 8 minute mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P0Pv84cPWU

Looks like a great video. We have lots of footage from that same time period. Some day I'll find the time to get it transfered.

I like the bodies laying on the ground next to the train tracks. What a nice effect!

Wonderful footage of the Railroad. This stuff is extremely rare to come by anymore... :)

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

Is that the old Mill Race featured at the beginning?

Man, I really miss the Mill Race. :(

Yeah, but we got a world class ride in its place.

P2007 has some big shoes to fill for replacing log flumes.

Goodbye MrScott

We are so lucky to have a park that is so rich in history. I mean, how many old traditional amusement parks successfully made the transition to a Mega Park? Very few indeed.

Cool stuff. Funny how things have changed too culturally. The woman toward the end with the diving show would be considered "fat" by today's standards.

The same video poster has 3 more videos from 1961 as well.

Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEXfYyfZE1s

Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9mxYU0xx1M

Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CKHMiATvRc

all 3 are 7-10 mins long

Part 3 is very interesting. It shows the old boat ride. After seeing that, it makes the changing of the name from Banshee to Mantis seem kinda silly! Its amazing how things change.

I really liked the nostalgic music the guy edited in them on top of it. Pretty good.

Wondered why the views on this on youtube jumped up 10 fold!

Had to check out my favorite CP site and found out why, thanks.

Still digging through the archives.

Back then, they used to give the kids popguns to shoot "stuntmen" on the side of the tracks.

Yes, hopefully the "drugged-up, anorexic" fad of today will pass.

These videos are awesome! Is it me? Or is the "Attack on the Fort" portion of the boat ride the back of Fort Sandusky? That's interesting that the ride went all the way out there.

~Rob Willi

I'm not sure of the exact dates, but I seem to remember that Fort Sandusky did not appear untill the fort on the boat ride disappeared. Maybe it was recycled? Gotta love Trapper Dan, how old is he now?

Interisting to watch the progress in two years. CP management was really taking the steps to copy Disneyland in some aspects. The boat ride/Monorail/and heavily Themed Train ride were an effort to take CP into the Theme Park generation.

There were a few rides that I didn't even know they had, and it's interisting to see some rides like the Rockets, Rotor, and Scrambler in different locations. Very cool!

A question for anyone who might remember, how long did the semi-trackless car rides remain that way? When did they install the track system that they use now. Looks like perhaps 1962.
