WOW- 8/12

Wow today was just too cool. I was at the park from noon till 10:45pm. I knew that by looking at the webcams at 9:30am before we left that it was currently raining, and that all the weather forcasts said it would rain today. Fortunately they were wrong as usual and it never rained while I was there.

It started out, my friend and I got a freeway to Raptor for 7:00pm. We headed straight for Top Thrill. The line was very very short. The end was just next to the station and it kept moving forward because of all the people that were leaving. We moved very far and were soon right up next to the launch position. After two hours had passed, something cool happened.

The guy that was very first in line wanted to go ride other rides with his family(they were waiting since around 8:30 or so i guess). So he left his spot in line and randomly picked my friend and I out of the 150 or so people that were waiting in line. He asked us how long we were going to wait for this ride to open, and we told him as long as it takes. So, he told us to follow him and we did.

We were the very first two people in line now, and his family was free to go ride the other rides until this ride opened, then we would watch for them and let them come in line right behind us. This was the greatest thing ever. Yes, the signs say this would be removal from park if you get cought doing it, but everybody does it(doesnt mean its right) and also the ride op said that as long as one party member stays in line, the rest can come and go as they please. That made me feel much better, because I didnt want the people behind us getting mad. We were waiting another two hours and started playing a game of cards with the ride ops. My friend knew them quite well and he talked to them alot.

Finally, they started testing the ride and sure enough it opened. Our total wait for this ride to open was 5 hours. But it was well worth it because we were the first ones being launched today(which was pretty exciting). We got into the station and looked out. A huge crowd of people, very very large crowd, had gathered. I couldnt tell where the line was because everyone was pretty much bunched up together.

They were all cheering and clapping and stuff. We got in the front seat of the first train out for the day. What a rush! I had been on this ride before, but the first train and front seat wow! thats pretty cool. Everybody looking at you and cheering and everything! hehe. Well it was time to launch, and yes this story gets better.

I thought that being front seat in the very first train was awesome but guess what then. A rollback! Wow that was extreme. We were the only train filled with people to rollback the entire day(if im not mistaken there was maybe one more but not sure.)and we had the front seat. After we got off the ride i was amazed they were launching very consistantly. I never before saw Top Thrill running for hours and hours without a single rollback or break-down until today. Absolutely Amazing!

We got on many other rides during the day too, which I wont explain it'd probly be boring to hear. But today was great. All in all, we got to ride Top Thrill 2 times in a matter of a few minutes, magnum back seat and 1st car 3rd seat(wow this seat rocks, ten times better than back seat, now I know why its called the ejector seat lol ), millennium force back seat at night(very very cool), power tower at night, and raptor. It turned out to be the perfect day.

wow, now that is the trip report i like to hear. you wait 5 hours for ttd, and have the time of your life. i cant wait till tomorrow to ride it. about how long was the line when they started to test it?

Well, when they started to test it the line got longer, of course. Alot of people i saw were running to get in line. I know it must have gone past corkscrew, because as I entered the station and looked out, you could not see any part of the midway because it was just a big huge crowd of people gathering. So im sorry I cant really tell you how long it was. But Top Thrill today was running constantly from the time I got on(about 5) until later around 8:30 maybe I think they had one small break down. And because of the break down the line was a 4 hour wait approx. said the ride op.

All I can say is if you have ridden all of the other rides before, and the sign says Top Thrill will be open today, I would wait in line for it. Well worth it IMO. Btw, thanks for the nice reply... I was hoping nobody would reply by saying something like "you cheated your way to the front of the line" or something because that's not how it was at all. Even though it may have looked that way to some people, we were just being nice and holding a family's spot in line.

thanks, im going for one day and still want to ride most everything else and if i got on ttd i would be one happy camper. thats the main reason im going back in the first place. i couldnt live with myself after i failed to get on it and i made sure i would annoy the crap out of my parents until they agreed to go again.

The good thing about waiting for TopThrill to open is that it usually starts off to be a very short line because most people think that it wont be opening since they arent testing yet. So, everybody else is riding Magnum, Mantis, Millennium Force, etc.. If you are the lucky one waiting in this short line, and they start testing, it is very likely that it will open. If it doesnt open I am sorry, but both times I went and did this and they opened it. You can get on TTD within a half-hour hopefully, and thats when everybody runs from Magnum, Mantis, MF, etc. to ride TTD. All of those people are then in line behind you hehe. After you get off the ride it is great because the wait for TTD will be many hours, and you will have much time to ride almost everything else in the park because of the shorter wait times. Hope you have fun
I went to CP on this day, rode every single roller coaster there, and then got in line around 8:00.

It only took me 3 hours for a front row seat on Dragster at night.

Why do all these people wait for it right when the park opens? Unless you are the very very first person in line, its pointless. Even if you are the first, I still think its ridiculous but can understand why.

I think for those people waiting in line when the park opens their main objective for their trip is to ride TTD. By waiting until evening you run the risk of never getting on due to it's unpredictability. However, the history so far on TTD is that it is running much more often in late afternoon and evening than it does in the morning.

Stop Still Dragster 3...2...1... No !! ;)
No ! They do not have Freeway for Dragster.

we waited in line for dragster right after the park openend for early resort entrance and on waited like ten minutes
