worst online reservations ever

mermaidsair's avatar

Guess I just need to vent.

I like using online reservations when I am unsure of which building to stay at or exactly when I am coming to look at prices.

Cedar Point has a really horrible system. It has been this way for years. Can't believe they have not fixed it yet. Each year it is down all the time.

Now that they finally have it up for the season you can only get Breakers. The other buildings continuously give me an error message.

Nobody uses technology. :)

I've had problems with it too. I guess they haven't got it up 100% yet.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I might not be having the same problem but when I used it it would just stay at the loading screen. I'd hit refresh and still nothing would show up. So what I tried was choosing a different hotel other than the one that didn't seem to work and try to at least get past the loading sreen. It worked, then when you are in the boring layout of the reservation area go and choose the hotel you want. Like I said I'm not sure if that's the same problem or if it'll work for you. I think they might want to consider an update!

I will give this a shot. I am a little disapointed they have more problems with this than their webcam. It has been years....

I have lot of problems with the system also. It seems to work better with IE than Firefox. Also I have found if i do get it to load, and you want to switch something up, go to the bottom and hit the redefine request button at the bottom.

You can always call them. That works pretty well.

You mean actually talk to a person? Perish the thought!

I prefer to do that when I know the dates and which facility I want but they are not pegged down so I wanted to look at the site to see different options.

Not sure which building I want and my dates are uncertain so I find it easier to look at online prices until I am sure.

I always prefer to buy/book things online. There is no way someone can screw up my credit card numbers (other than myself) or anything else for that matter. I like to be able to specify in black and white exactly what it is I want, whether that be picking the dates or the room or flights, etc.

When you involve someone on the other end of a phone in a call center making minimum wage (most likely) it brings in a lot of room for screw ups... Screw ups I'd rather not deal with.

Last time I put my credit card info out on the internet a Russian mail-order bride showed up at my house. Wasn't even the one I asked for.

I checked the online system the other day, and I was shocked it seem to be working well! I got to check out everything, seems like the rates have gone up a little more from the previous years.

^ They gotta pay for that website somehow....

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Check it out now! They've TOTALLY revamped their reservation website! It really works and is actually quite slick! ABOUT TIME, CEDAR POINT! THANK YOU!

I'll be booking my rooms in just a couple days now! WOO HOO!

The new system is really nice.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding the new system to be really slow and less than intuitive.

I've got to agree Walt. Its a couple seconds when I changed months for it to update the calendar and make it available. And that was after I figured out that you click the unlabeled "down arrow" to scroll forward in time.

Biggest things I don't like:

1 - Make it so someone can type in their arrival and departure dates. This is pretty standard on any reservation system.

2 - Make the "Hotel" a dropdown. I shouldn't have to go backwards to select a different hotel.

3 - Its slow.

Biggest things I do like:

1 - Room availability. That can also help gauge how busy the park will be. If the rooms are booked solid, its not going to be slow (although not being booked doesn't indicate that it will be).

2 - The hotel slideshow.

3 - Being able to specifically select what room you want to look for. Especially with Breakers where there are a lot of room combinations.

Goodbye MrScott

John

I can sum up the things I don't like in two words - insane prices. $270+tax per night for a cottage the first weekend in June. That is beyond ridiculous to me.

I agree that the reservation info input end is less-than-intuitive, but c'mon - its immeasurably faster than the old one, at least for me. It would sit on the wait screen (with the b&w/color icon progress bar thingy) for minutes at a time.
