I think the word "terra" was basically an enthusiast term and CP just co-oped it. Does anyone know if any other park has used that term to describe a coaster?

Looks like someone beat CP to it!

In all honesty, after some web-digging it appears that Heide Park had made claims back in '01 that they were building a "Tera-Coaster" that would be 412.5 feet tall... That never happened, but they did coin the term...

Just saw the Maverick commercial on TV... and it's being touted as the "world's first terra coaster" on the television...
Now taking bids on how long until we see a "I SAW THE COMMERCIAL" thread. ;)

Alas, never caught it. Was it worthwhile? Didn't that guy play Puddy on Seinfeld?

A terra-coaster is a coaster that has multiple ground-hugging elements and is designed by intamin. This isn't too hard. B & M can't make a terra coaster....or a Strata...or a Giga....those are intamin-manufactured rides.

So after all of this, I think I have it figured out.
Terra Coaster: (n.) A roller coaster that launches riders twice and has individual elements unlike other rides in the park, while slinging mud and dirt in riders' faces. Terra coasters must also be designed by Intamin and clearly show reference to 70's funk bands.
and involves water.....somehow.
A small tangent, but I noticed today how nicely the "canyons" look right next to thunder canyon's "canyons". That part of the park is looking a bit rocky. :) I doubt that continuity was planned, though.

If the original plans for Snake River Falls would have been followed that area would look VERY, VERY cool and VERY, VERY rocky. But, when the budget was slashed on SRF there went the "mountain".

I remember the magazine the year that Snake River Falls came out. The picture made it look so awesome, and then I saw the "shack" and I was very disappointed. Nonetheless, SRF is still an incredible flume ride.

I had never heard this info about SNF. That sounds impressive. I always liked the "shack" look myself; it reminds me of WWL. Any links to pics of some of SRF's old art renderings?

What about the worlds first fire-coaster, made completely over an open fire. We could build it in California. Who would've thought of that one.

Ohhhhh! I get it NOW! World's First Terra Coaster!
It's necessary to "Terra" few pieces off and replace them before it can open...
Way to go CP! ;)
