I have a couple stiputations...if it's a steel coaster, then I would have to say yes. Speed for a TA2K.

For a woodie, I'd say maybe, but for something like the most tunneled coaster or the coaster with the most helices.

I think if Cedar Point needs a woodie record, how about steepest drop, biggest (degree wise) helix... nothing to do with height or speed. Even most crossovers would be nice , anything over 30 would be fine. :)

Well if its a TA2K, then I think it should definatly be a height record. All Cedar Points coaster are variety in type. It took them 11 years to build another Magnum (somewhat, you know what I mean), so to make a TA2K at 300 plus feet would be sweet. The only thing is, if Cedar Point does it, then other parks will. S&S Sports Power is known for making rides to fit small spaces and everyone can't afford a Millennium Force type so they will get S&S to make one.

No record breakers. Let's just go for quality. Someone will come along and beat that record anyway. For example, if they add a new woodie, just make it a fun, comfortable ride with airtime, just the way it should be. If they add a mutli-looper, make it a classic layout, instead of jamming in the most inversions.

I definately agree with net. But I don't want a Ghostrider clone! Some people say that would be nice...but CP should get something orginal. CCI can design a ride just as good as Ghostrider without making it a clone!

Well, unless you want 11, I wouldn't go there...there is going to be a deca-looper next year.

I think that the most easily obtainable is the steepest drop on a woodie.  Just thought I would add my 2cents before this topic closes!  ;)

I don't think it really matters if it is or it isn't, I am going anyway. But given the fact that IT IS Cedar Point, it wil prob. be a record-setter of some sort..that's just what they do!

I like it if is was a launch coaster that has the fastest acceleration.  0-78 in 1 second.  I know hypersonic for something goes 0-82 or something in 1.8 seconds.  I think that would be an awsome coaster for Cedarpoint.

I'm pulling for the fastest coaster in the world with a TA2K.  It will be tough though considering that the new TA2K in Japan, Dodonpa, will go 107 mph.

Analyize that.  And I have heard this said before... but why would CP won't to go w/ the fastest again?  They just built MF and smashed height and speed w/ it.  Why do it all again when there are so many other records to be broken.  I thik CP knows that and we will all be VERY suprised in Oct.

Yeah I always thought that too, Petree - MF was built to be the speed coaster at the Point, why build one faster and spoil MF?

I think the answer is because they are two completely different experiences.  For the TA2K, you would only be going super fast (say, 110 mph) for the VERY beginning of the ride, then they would have either a turn to a hill or a hill but the hill wouldn't be as big as MF, so you wouldn't get the same drop and speed from that drop.

Just my mind wandering...

Hi all, I'm new here.

Well, I think that records should not be what they focus on.  We want quality rides that are FUN!
