I was wondering if your hired and end up working at any of the restaurants inside the park like game day grill or johnny rockets or just any inside haha or joe cool cafe can you work over 40 hours? or no because of overtime and time and a half?.
If you're working any seasonal position in the park, there is no overtime regardless of how many hours you work. It's common for some positions to work much more than 40 hours, but it varies widely by department.
Alright thanks. Yeah I know in like the walk ups and everything like that your going to put in like 50-60 hours but I was unsure of the real sit down restaurants I thought those might be different just because there sit down?
The only restaurant that you need to worry about overtime at that I know about is TGI Friday's by Castaway Bay. But by mid-season everyone is in overtime anyway.
Alright thanks.
Im still waiting for a call though. so well see
i hear people are already getting hired
yeah either a server or just really anything in a restaurant there. I know at the walk ups you work 50-60
i was just unsure about the sit down restaurants
are you going to be working there this summer?
Have you ever been a server before? If not, you will most likely be put in Midway Market. The servers there only have to worry about getting drinks and clearing tables, so it's a good way to learn the ins and outs of serving.
Depending on where you work and particularly at the beginning and end of the season you may get more than 40 hrs/wk, but as Ralph said there is no overtime pay. I got at least 40 hrs. as a host even when we were fully staffed, but servers may get less than that.

Ive never been a server before. I have only worked at mcdonalds for the last 2 years lol. So if you work there you make 7.40 then right?
Alright sweet. Im glad some people in food service have finally got on here haha.
when do calls usually go out for food service?
I was curious as to how well the tips are if you're a server and what your base pay is.

Tipped employees make half the minimum wage ($3.70/hr) with tips making up the rest of the wages. Hosts, bussers and line hosts (at Midway Market) make $7.40/hr.
Calls for food service can go out at any time. If you made it your first choice and you put in your application in January, I'd expect a call soon. It mostly depends on how soon the managers see your application.

Base pay is stated above.
Tips depend on where you work and how well you do your job as a server. Midway Market is a good place to learn how to be a server, but since it's a buffet not every customer knows to tip the server. With that in mind, I've seen most servers take away a good amount at all the places I worked at. It just depends on how well you do the job.

I put it in as my first choice at the beginning of january and it hasnt even been reviewed yet
i heard though sometimes it wont say its been reviewed but someone has looked at it idk? if that was true or not
Just a precaution, from like opening May-mid June hours in Foods can vary from 30-40 hours a week. This is because the park is generally slower and because Foods operates differently than other departments. Foods has to worry a lot more about labor costs. Don't worry though, once school gets out hours will pick up. Supervisors try to make hours fair also....well I did at least.
