With all those kids I don't care what you say - security is critical. Someone mentioned Disney earlier. They have tight security too.
The on-Point housing options are an embarassment no matter what they charge. My teenage kid wouldn't work there if that was his/her only option. Nicer facilities would go a long way to improving employee morale and employee retention but the Power that Be disregards that year after year. Sure, they built some new dorms and finally got around to building a new rec center but Cedars and Gold must go.
Supervision is going to be hit or miss at an amusement park or anywhere else young people are in charge of younger people. In most cases leads and seasonal supervisors have limited supervisory experience...and it shows.
It is time to be a leader in the industry and Cedar Point needs to raise wages to attract a better pool of candidates. They need to concentrate on making the housing something kids enjoy instead of tolerate.
It won't happen until at least 2007...but here's hoping.

Thank you chief. Someone finally sees things the way I do. I love Cedar point but when you expirence it like alot of us do. You wont want to visit it again anytime soon.
The Commons Apartments were built starting in 1979 I think. There were only two to a room back then. The A/C was good for the front part, but did nothing for the rest of the area.
I actually got written up by a firemarshall because my room was so filthy. The usual 200 beer cans and bottles ect. Nothing illegal, just filth.
Too much fun that summer was!
Reading all these posts on the different message boards, I cannot believe you all do not get a yearly raise. I work for SeaWorld in Orlando, and we get a raise every January. It's not the best raise in the world, but it is average for the industry. Also, all full-time employees get the best health insurance around and they even offer part time employees either a quarterly bonus or the option to put that bonus towards health insurance. I've been with SeaWorld for 10 years, and really enjoy it. Also, working for SeaWorld gets you free admission to any Anheuser Busch park. Working for Cedar Point, do you get into any Cedar Fair park for free? Also, there is an agreement with Universal, and all SeaWorld employees get into Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure free. Are there any perks working for Cedar Point?
You can get into CP 24 hrs a day, Geauga Lake is also free. I dont know about the others in the chain.
You can also get a free ticket to Kings Island.

Okay, so I'm gonna digress a little to the beginning of the post, and agree with Cassandra about the roommate thing. I lived in the 1500 building all summer (the 3-4 person dorms). But I switched rooms once and went through 9 different roommates.
My first roommate was so quiet, unfriendly, and never around. But she always came in during the day to turn off the AC. Why, I ask, is she paying an extra $15/week to turn off the AC? When she moved out I got the three Ghetto-est roommates imaginable. They woke me up one morning screaming trying to cut off their long fake nails with a kitchen scissors. They overran my fridge so I couldnt put anything in it, and turned my room into the party room, random guys would just walk in without notice. Thats when I moved.
My second room was so much more enjoyable. I had 5 different roommates in there, but not because we were unhappy. It was just their time to go. The room did get really messy, and that created some tension, but overall we had a great time. You cant just sit around hating where you live. You have to be assertive and say something. Switch rooms, they let you do it.
As for the security issues, I never had any problems. Of course, I'm not a criminal. But I, like many others, stumbled in at 2am drunk and underage. As long as you arent making a scene or putting anyone in danger, they dont care. I never had anything stolen from my room because I always locked the door, even if I was just going down the hall to brush my teeth, and I locked up all my money and stuff in my locker with a padlock. You just have to be aware of your surroundings.
If you go into the summer with a good attitude and are willing to put in a little effort to stay safe, you'll be fine. If you go in complaining about every little problem in your dorm or apartment, of course you'll be miserable.
