working at cp

hi im from england and am taking a gap year befor i go of to university. i hope to be working at cp in 2004. you lot that are working in the park seem to KNOW what ride you are working on, how do you know this.

i thought that cp alocated you a job.

do you ask to work on particular rides. and if so how far in advance should you do this.

thanks for any help

After your interview, you may request a ride. However, wait until AFTER the interview is over and your offered a job. As long as you have an early interview there should be no problem getting on what ride you want. Look at me, I'm a newbie working Raptor.

They try to place you where you'd like but sometimes thats just not possible. If you do happen to get placed somewhere you don't want to be give it a chance if you go in with the attitude you don't want to be there its not only a horrible experience for you but for the others that are working with you. You never know it may just grow on you and you'll absolutely fall in love with it. I've worked quite a few different rides including coasters and kiddy rides. They all have there good pionts and they all have there bad. I personally don't like coasters. I think they are boring and repetitive and i know people that think circulars are that way. Its all a matter of preference. But if you do choose to transfer rides be forewarned (wow big word) your request may be denied, I've seen people quit becuase they didn't get the transfer they wanted. That puts your fellow employees and managers in a worse bind. They now have an empty spot to fill. So try to make the best of it. Ok I'll hop off my soap box now. ( Although I kinda like it up there i can see far and the air is cleaner)

Hey Mike,

I applied for rides, and got just that, rides. When I emailed to ask if they knew which one I'd be on, they said they put interenational employees in a labour pool (labor if in the US) for rides, and assign when you get there. At first this bugged me, but I've decided now I just want a good crew, I dont care about the ride! You probably wont get an interview (I've never had one - go through BUNAC, none of us got them last year), as it would cost them too much to phone abroad I think! Anyways, what you doing in your gap year?

Man I wish I was from a country where "Gap Year" was used. It's so much more fun than "I'm taking a year off."

This is from [an old episode of] SNL's Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey:

Dodonpa, the world's fastest roller coaster, is set to open later this month in Japan. Unfortunately, only eight people in Japan are tall enough to ride it.
