Working at Cedar Point

Hey there Everyone. Im new to this forum and Im now looking into working at CP next summer. I previously have worked at Six Flags over Texas, which is local to me. From your point of veiw...How is it working at Cedar Point? Especially Operations. Operations(rides) is where I worked with SFoT, and Id like to get an idea also of how they run things within the operations department of this Amusement Park. Thanks for the info!

While I have never worked there, I've been around there for 30 or 40 years.

I'd bet CP is "strickter" on employee rules than what you are used to.

I'd bet ride operations are somewhat similar to what you are used to, but, CP's sense of urgency to get the ride underway is greater...than what you are used to.

I say these things based on only what I have heard from others. I have never even visited a Six Flags park. Based on that, SF would be hard placed to beat CP's operations.

It'll be a lot less warm in Sandusky, in fact, you may find it cold.

As Mr. Scott said, it'll be a lot more strict of a work environment. They seem to screw you every way you go (Wardrobe, Employee Cafe, Housing)

I don't know what department you worked in or plan on working in, but if its Ride Operations, you'll find that they are a lot more safety conscious (too much sometimes) and things are to be always done by the book.

Saftey Awareness isnt always a bad thing. Six Flags was severe on that aswell, As should every other theme park on the planet. There were a few MAJOR faults & screw around within SF's Operations department...something along the lines of Disorganization. Being pushed to open my ride faster sounds forceful, but it also beats the lazyness in the loads of spare time SF provided us to start up our rides. So far it seems both parks have their con's & pro's.

Thanks for the info so far guys!

No, Six Flags is not as severe about punishing workers for being unsafe as the entire Cedar Fair company is.

Explain....

I am looking at trying to tranfore out to Cedar Point from Knott's Berry Farm next summer, what would be my best corse of action. I have been working at Knotts for going on three years now in Park Services

I would suggest applying like normal and of course listing Knotts down as a previous/current employer.

Once the application is in, give it a month and give the park a call. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't give you a job with so much experience with a park, let alone a CF park.

I worked at Michigan's Adventure for two years before I applied to CP and I got right in with no problem.
