Working @ CP 2006??

Hey guys, I was just wondering from past experiences, what its like to work at CP? I have worked at my local amusement park Kennywood for 2 years and Six Flags for 1 year both as a Rides Op. I was wondering if CP is good or bad - like employee treatment. I know it can get stressful, but would you recommend working there? I will be in Colorado doing an internship this summer and may do something different for the next, just a thought. Any help I would appreciate it...by the way, I'll be at the work this wednesday May 10th.....hahaha, cant wait....

Howdy. I worked at Cedar Point for three seasons and now this year I'm working at Kennywood :-) So I can probably help with a comparison.

CP is a LOT bigger than Kennywood, and a hundred times busier, meaning considerably more stress. Even though my job at KW keeps me running around all day, everything is way more laid back than at CP. CP runs a much tighter ship. After all the training I went through my first CP year, I was incredulous to find there was no training whatsoever for KW.

Due to the fact that CP is open longer during the day than KW and is sometimes understaffed, your hours can be pretty long. An O-C in rides could be 14-16 hours, depending on which ride. Also, you'll be working 6 days a week. Since CP gets more first-time visitors, you have a higher instance of people who are unfamilliar with the park and require more assistance.

Yet working and living at CP is an entirely different experience from working at a neighborhood park. It feels weird for me to leave KW each night and actually go back to my house. There seems to be a lesser sense of solidarity among the employees, because once the day ends, they all go in a hundred different directions. Whereas at CP, everyone goes back to the same places. That is the best part - getting to live with all of the other employees. The downside to that is it feels like you never really get to leave the park, so it can get old real fast.

But I really would recommend it. Since you have experience, you know what you're getting into. Good luck :)

cedar point is a nice working experience i worked last summer but i'm taking this summer off for school but i will be back next summer.

I would recommend it, if for nothing else than the sense of community you get.. And a lot can be said about living and working with the same people every day. If nothing else, a unique experience.

i think you will love it. there is nothing like being in rides at CP- i have worked at 6 flags- never had a chance to work at KENNYWOOD- though one of my best friend worked there and she loved it. i think one day she'll buy the park. LOL!!!!!

but anywhoo- you love being at cp- there is quite nothing like it.
