Words of Advice

If anyone goes to a school that offers the course Financial Peace for the Next Generation, you would be crazy not to take it. I wish I would have taken that class 15 years ago. If you don't have access to the class, buy and read this book.

The typical college student graduates with more than $20,000 in debt. Don't be normal. Have a plan.

Schools don't teach important things like money management. They're more worried about their standardized test scores which see if students know how to find angles of a triangle. Because that's more important than being financially secure your entire life.

Schools dont teach the important things you need to know for life.

hahaha... the whole 5 cents more.

I think most employees have a problem with drinking their earnings, not eating their earnings.

Back in 1980 the bonus was an entire .25 an hour....

If you go to a party, make sure that it is near your dorm room. When you grab a beer take it back to your room and put it in your frig. Go back to the party and have a beer. Repeat this at least 10 x and you will have enough of a buzz and enough beer for your day off. Be sure to eat the munchies at the party. That way you will not have to spend any cash.. I survived my first 2 weeks on two dollars... 10 cans of chicken soup and 10 ears of corn along with a crap load of beer and munchies.. For some reason I ALWAYS had beer in the frig, albiet many different brands...

Don't eat in the cafe, really. You can save a ton of money by going to Meijer or Wal-Mart and hitting up their deli section. For less than you would probably spend for 2 meals at the cafe, you can eat for a week. Plus, you can pick what you get and make it quite a bit healthier, too. The cafe is heavy on fried and greasy food. Most people don't tend to gain weight at CP, though. Constant movement and long days burn calories, and the heat tends to kill my appetite quite a bit. The entrees are all over the place in terms of quality. If they have a good one, you can always do that.

The cafe will run specials sometimes, though, so take advantage of those. Just be careful of the $.25 hot dogs. Not that it ever stopped me....
