With the demise of Bid Bad Wolf At Busch Gardens , Will we see Iron Dragon coming down next?

Im very sad to see that Busch Gardens is Closing and Dismantling There Suspended coaster. Will we see Cedar Point Taking there Suspended coaster down too? I hope not. I really Like Iron Dragon. Its a great medium size coaster and It is great for the whole family to enjoy. Im hoping that stress fractures on this ride wont be evident and that it will be around for a very long time. What do you think?

Ihope not! I love the Iron Dragon the way it sails through the trees!

Iron Dragon doesn't even remotely experience the kinds of forces that BBW does. I wouldn't worry about it just yet.

That's what I was thinking as well; I would, however, keep an eye on Flight Deck (Top Gun) down at KI. While obviously shorter, I would venture a guess that it has similar maintenence issues (similar to BBW).

I'm not sure I would agree with that. Top Flight Deck Gun is very much a second generation version of that ride type. It's sad that Arrow finally got it right and no one ever bought another one. The wheel assemblies don't bounce all over the place and the support structure appears more robust (not that I'd know for sure).

Mile high, try to think back to the last time Cedar Point actually removed a roller coaster -- and there have been some spectacular failures as well as maintenance nightmares over the years -- and then ask that question again.

^ That's true...I've always liked it (Flight Deck/Top Gun), especially at night...and ever since getting down to BGW a few years ago and experiencing Big Bad Wolf, the first question that popped in my head was "why are there not more of these..." (quickly followed by "why cant Iron Dragon be this much fun?").

Wasn't Jumbo Jet the last coaster to be removed from the park?

Hmm...I can think of other coasters that would likely go before Iron Dragon. Disaster, Mean Streak, Mine Ride come to mind.

I would not worry about that for at least 10 years. If you saw Big BAd Wolf this year you could see that it has aged really bad. It took almost 45 seconds sometimes to get the train into the station. Also, for the past 2 years they have been running 2 trains. The trains were not in the best shape either. Iron Dragon is one of the most reliable rides in the park, looks amazing for being 23 years old, has amazing capacity, the trains are in really good shape, and is one of the most popular rides in the park. It has almost as much ridership as Raptor and Millenium. I really couldn't see them removing Iron Dragon.

They were running 3 trains each time I was at the park this year. And all 3 of the trains looked almost new. See here..

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think what Iron Dragon could use would be the new Vekoma floorless trains. It would make ID more fun and have an entirely new experience to the ride. They've already did it to one of the Arrow models over in the UK.

Those trains, according to people who have been in them, describe them as an epic failure. Furthermore, it would increase the height requirement, which is the last thing you'd want to do to Iron Dragon.

Right because ID is a family coaster... Another reason the park won't remove this coaster.

Top Gun seems to be in good shape. It has been running well on all of my visits this year. However, the tubs are the major negative on the ride. They are a lot smaller than the ID tubs, and if you are over 5'5" you'll likely bang your knees if you sit in the back of any car. Add on the seat belts that CF felt the need to install and it can be an unpleasant experience before you even reach the lift.

I don't think the tubs are at all different. I'm certainly taller than 5'5" and I've never had any issue.

Ditto that. I'm 6'2" and have never had a problem with Flight Deck.

What are you guys talking about when you mention the tubes?

They mean tubs as in cars.

Also unbeknownst BGE didn't quite take care excellent care of BBW like Cedar Point does with ID.

They like to hide lots of things including the time they accidentally dropped one or two trains right off the transfer track onto the ground.

Hmm, I was almost sure that the tubs were different. I'll pay close attention the next time I ride each. How do you account for the seatbelts on Flight Deck? Are they there just because it's faster? Or because the tubs are bigger and you are more 'down in' the car?

^^ OMG they did? Did they get new ones?

^ I don't know why but i am going there next week and i want to know why to.

I agree some of the tubs are smaller than ID. I sorda was crunched in one of BBW cars in the back. LNM's are the worst though. NO room for back seat riders.
