Witches Wheel?

^Its funny that I have read that 3 times in this thread already, but people seem to skip right over it and go on with their crazy ideas of why it could be being taken apart. That is the only logical answer so far...of course, when has anyone thought logically around here? :)

About witches wheel, and i'm dead serious on this one, I heard some people refer to Maxair as witches wheel once. They were in the midway standing right in front of Maxair's big red sign and pointed to the ride, and said "Let's ride the witches wheel."

Don't worry, I heard a girl say that the '1/4' hour wait for corkscrew was "25 minutes".

JuggaLotus, I'm sure this girl was a young kid, I'm assuming??

But correct me if I am wrong - the season is not over. Why are they taking WW down for winter maintenance two weeks before the season is over? Yes I know they are only open on weekends but if they start taking rides down now it seems like those two weekends are getting short changed.

The rides will still be open on the weekends, they aren't out for the season. A ride like Witches Wheel can be torn apart and reassembled in a matter of a few days. It makes sense to get a head start on the smaller rides that they can get done between Monday-Thursday so they have more resources available for the bigger overhauls once the park closes.

I got that every hour of every day. Surprisingly, Corkscrew doesn't connect to Millennium Force or Dragster. And yes, it really does go up-side down. Just to clear up the confusion.

I think the winter overhaul theory will be proven once we see whether or not WW is back and operating this weekend.

Try mid-teens.

And Craig - I'm not surprised. I swear there is a sign at the gates asking people to leave their brains in their vehicles.

I would say more like a sign at the toll booths telling them that if they have a brain, they may not enjoy their day. What's great is when an adult says its a 25 minute wait, and their kid(s) have to correct them. Those are the times when I really have to bite my tongue to keep from laughing. I think what may even be better than that is when they walk up, ask me how long the wait is, I tell them the time, they look at the sign, and ask me if its right! No, I just decided to put it on 1/4 hour when its really an hour...yes its 15 minutes.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

How would a Topple Tower fit there? Wouldn't it topple into Maverick's pond hill?

4 summers of employment in ride operations does stuff to you.

Well, toward it, anyway. The one at Dollywood had geyser water effects on one side, sprinkling some of the riders. On the other sides were different fun things you could see or experience each time the tower leaned that direction. Each "scene" had a mountain theme which could easily convert to western for CP.

I liked the ride a lot, but I've heard they are a maintenance concern. In fact the ride right after mine broke down and left the riders stuck in the air, well, forever. I think we rode MM a couple times, got something to eat, and they were still up there. That's when it started it's extended down period, I think.

Anyway, just a fantasy. Tell truth, I'm not sure where I would put the Wave Swinger in Camp Snoopy! I do think a Topple Tower somewhere at CP would be an asset. It would help fill the medium thrill family ride catagory.

Camp Snoopy has a swing ride, called "Lolli-Swing". Wave Swinger has a great location has it is and CP obviously is keeping the old carousel building around for a while.

Secondly, many rides have already started going through their winter overhauls. Witch's Wheel seems to usually get its overhaul around this time as I remember from years past.

It's just the end of the year/winter overhaul getting an early start.

That doesn't explain the webcam though. We've been waiting for quite a while to see where the last of the 3 new webcams would be going.

If you notice when you go to the park by the Gemini Games area they have a webcam attached to one of the buildings, I know its a webcam because it the same style they have been showing on the blog. The Camera is pointing in the direction of the Witches Wheel. So we shall see.

Jason, in case you missed it, we have already mentioned that it is not a webcam. It is actually a security camera for High Striker. I understand not wanting to read through a bunch of speculation for one or two good posts, though. ;)

Funny, same thing every year. I remember the first time I closed Witches Wheel on the weekends in 2002. I closed it up, turned off the lights, and start up towards Park op, then was scared half to death when a swarm of maintenance men swarmed past me around the ride. Every weekend in in October they remove 5 Cars and overhaul then during the week. Yes it is the winter overhaul. I watched them do it in 2002, again in 2003, then remember seeing the cars off again in 2004, every week in October.

I saw some of you had a ride on it this past weekend, and I'm sure right now if you would look at the wheel, it would be missing about 5 cars.

Just your usual come and go poster. One week I am here, then I disappear for a while.

Actually 2006 was a bad year for The Witch new safety procedures...car modifications...and after 2006's october beatdown it recieved a new boom.
