Someone mentioned something about this in the last month or two. I can't remember, however, whether they said it was suppose to be put in, or it was in the distant future planning or what. You might want to search through some of the Employee Lounge threads regarding dorms.

I don't think you'll get very good reception on your wireless because it's hard enough to get a cell phone signal and keep, I don't think you'll get a very good one if you get one at all.

I get a stronger cell phone signal at Cedar Point than I do at home...

Yes we did talk about it awhile ago, as far as I know nothing has changed yet.

As an expensive alternative, you could get a new HP laptop with the Verizon wireless broadband built in. Broadband access where ever you get a cellular signal.
Brandon
YOU CAN ALSO GET A CARD TO PUT VERIZON WIRELESS INTO ANY LAPTOP AND ITS ABOUT 60 BUCKS A MONTH I THINK
I don't think Verizon's broadband coverage extends to Sandusky.
there is no mobile broadband in Sandusky yet (Sprint EVDO or Verizon EVDO).
I have a Sprint EVDO phone, and have been checking. The nearest EVDO is in Port Clinton.
If you're willing to pay for cheap dial up in your room it'd probably be faster than the broadband enabled computers in the rec, which are so bogged down with spyware that never gets cleaned out it's a wonder they manage to even function.

I think DSL requires a long-term commitment, whereas with dial-up you can get it on a monthly basis for cheap.

Unfortunately, you cannot get DSL anywhere you can get a phone line. DSL requires you to be within a certain distance of the phone company's central office. Also, phone companies don't offer DSL everywhere they serve because it requires certain equipment and network upgrades at both the node and the central office. It seems unlikely to me that there would be DSL available in CP housing, but you can always call the phone company that serves them and ask, and not all DSL providers require long term contracts, but most do.

Buckeye Cable internet. I know of people having this. A friend of mine just signed up with them for internet in his room. No long term commitment. Call them, get connected. Its that easy.

I'm almost positive that you can't get cable Internet.
Didn't we talk about this in the last thread about Internet access on point? :)

I can personally attest that it is possible to get cable Internet in the (apartments at least) housing at Cedar Point.

In 2005 I lived in 902 and one of my room mates called up the cable company and got a connections. We ended up (most of us in that apartment were seriously into computers!) running CAT5 to all the rooms and each room paid so much for Internet. It was nice being able to come back after work and instead of having to go to the rec to surf just turn on your comp and start surfing.
I do also know that this same room mate is still living at Bayside and yes he still has Internet there.
