WindSeeker is the New Space Spiral?

I doubt they would remove Space Spiral just for the fact that it would cost them so much money just to move it. If you think about it, the footer for Space Spiral is what 30 feet deep? Plus taking Space Spiral apart piece by piece would be pricey too. Plus people are already trying to change their mind about removing Paddle Wheel Excursions. I have to agree with those people and say that I hope it returns.

And it takes up very little space. If they were to renovate that area and Disaster Transport (that whole area needs it..it looks really trashy back in that corner) there is no reason you couldn't buile a new ride around Space Spiral.

Yes it would be one less family ride, but I would trade Space Spiral for a 500 ft. drop ride. You could even reuse the footer.

If they were going to put in another drop ride, wouldn't it make more sense to replace PT? That way they don't lose yet another family ride in favor of a non-family ride. Thankfully, I don't think Ouimet is narrow minded enough to go that route.

Regardless, I think Space Spiral's tiny footprint helps keep the ride from being removed. There's almost nothing to be gained by its removal, aside from the maintenance savings.

I do think that the cabin needs to be re done or something, i rode it a few weeks ago, smelt like crap,literally, and was extremely hot. somethin needs to be done about that.

The smell is probably just from the raccoons that live in the unused elevator deck.

It probably would make more sense to replace PT, but it does offer a different ride experience with both shot and drop towers. Then again, Windseeker is actually quite similar to WaveSwinger and I see both of them being around for a long time.

I guess my point was that you're not going to see a grandmother holding her infant grandchild (as she would be able to do on SS) on either PT or a 500' drop ride.

I'd love to see a 500' drop tower, just not at the expense of SS. :)

Actually, I've meant to ask this for a while: Space Spiral's cabin has two decks, right? Why don't they use the upper deck?

Plus, there would need to be at least 2+ more ride hosts running the ride if they were going to use 2 levels. One would have to be in the 2nd level of the cabin, one to open the doors at the exit, and possibly one more to stand at the 2nd level entrance. As much as it would be cool to have the 2nd floor up and running, there is no need/doesn't make any economical sense to run both levels of the cabin on Space Spiral.

How come cedar point cant just fix the paint jobs on rides that need it, and light bulbs on rides that need them replaced?? I dont understand why they just LEAVE them like that, like for example Space spiral's white paint peeling off like sunburned skin, or giant wheel's burned out bulbs?

But......they spend sooo much time setting up detailed Halloween themes and adding dinosaurs and such...

Because all of those light bulbs and paint buckets cost money. Lots and lots of money. Cedar Fair doesn't think that trashy looking rides affect park experience. Until they notice that it does leave a bad impression on park guests, they will continue to leave it as is to save money.

To be fair, they did plunk down some bucks on Blue Streak's nice, new LEDs.

I think its also because Space Spiral isn't exactly a priority for them... Would we rather have Millenium Force repainted, or Space Spiral? Would we rather have new lights on Blue Streak, or Space Spiral? This isn't a major ride, so I doubt that they are going to fix it until everything is fixed.

I could care less about the paint on Space Spiral, but the ghetto Ferris Wheel CP has with all the missing or burned out bulbs has looked pathetic for years.

What's sad is that it didn't used to be that way. Back in the day when I worked there (mid 1970's) they had a electrical crew that did nothing but replace burned out lights. They had a cherry picker and every night after closing they made the rounds making sure that those "gaps" were filled in by the time the sun came up the next morning.

One of the things that has always impressed me about the Disney parks is their obsession with making their "house" clean and tidied up before each day's new wave of guests arrive. You would swear they just built the place. Everything is steam cleaned, fresh, all lights working, no paint peeling. It says to the guest "We were so looking forward to seeing you we spent all night sprucing the place up".

Do you pay for this? Sure you do. Does it make a difference in your experience? You bet.
