Every time I've been to the park this year, Space Spiral seems to be closed whenever WindSeeker is operating. Then, if WindSeeker has some sort of problem and shuts down, Space Spiral starts up. After WindSeeker is fixed and is back up and running, then Space Spiral shuts back down.
Is it just me, or does it seem like WindSeeker is some sort of way of replacing Space Spiral?

That is pretty unusual sounding. Maybe since it was very hot out recently, they didn't run it since there was not air conditioning? I don't know, just a thought...
It would probably be a waste of time and money to get rid of Space Spiral. The ride has a fairly deep foundation and doesn't take up any space.

they better not remove space spial! its a park tradition with the train, paddlewheel, and giant wheel and is great for families which windseeker is not
Unless that was sarcasm, are people now just saying anything that is old at the park is a "tradition"?

This is possible. The ride does go down when the temperature inside the cabin reaches a certain point.

Then that means they can't let Kinzel leave! He's a tradition!

I'm sure they are keeping tabs on the ridership just like with any ride. When the amount of people riding it don't make up for the cost of operating it, then the SS will be in trouble.
I would say that whenever Disaster Transport is finally removed/renovated that the Space Spiral land could be a part of whatever is planned for that area of the park.

I don't understand whey they don't air condition the cabin. Back in the day, I'm talking 60's and 70's, the cabin did have air conditioning.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I don't think I would mind seeing space spiral go. I agree with Connor W, the paint is really starting to look bad. I wouldnt mind seeing it get renovated though. New cabin which includes new air conditioning and windows and I'd like to see it get painted red white and blue like knots and carowinds sky cabins are painted.
It looks old, poorly maintained, stuffed in the corner of the park and just never running. A nice renovation would bring it back alive. I do believe a sky cabin like that is tradition in amusement parks. Especially for cedar point because of it's scenery.

I don't think that the Space Spiral is going away anytime soon. Knotts is currently rehabbing their Sky Cabin, which is a slightly smaller version. They originally were going to put Windseeker in it's location but the word is that corporate made the decision that it should be refurbished instead. That caused the search for a new location for their Windseeker which wound up in the Fiesta Village section of the park.
Now Seaworld in San Diego had to replace the cabin for their Space Spiral a few years ago. It's approximately the same age as Cedar Point's (maybe a year or two newer). It had become problematic as well and with Von Roll no longer in business they had to have a new cabin custom made by a Japanese firm. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet to compare it to the original, but it could be an option that is being considered.
