Windseeker

I find Skyhawk to be far more unnerving than Windseeker or the Giant Wheel. I think it's the fact that I'm not a big fan of facing straight down at the ground. I also struggle with the feeling as the arm swings backward. My body just isn't a big fan of that motion these days.

Yes, Demon Drop is still running at Dorney.

I'm very sensitive to motion, feeling nausea within two or three rides and unable to sit in the back seat of a car. But, I rode windseeker for the first time at Kings Island a few weeks ago and loved it. The height was great and because it is so big, I suffered no motion sickness.

I get pretty sick on those spinny rides... I think I have only been on Windseeker once and it actually wasn't too much of a problem for me. It does't seem to spin as fast as it looks IMO.

I find it ironic the ride is named Windseeker, but whenever it's too windy it's shut down. Lol! I go about 5 times a year, and it's shut down about 3 of the 5 times I'm there. I make sure to ride it when it's actually running.

Well, they seemed dead-set on installing a big swing, regardless of the fact that the peninsula's higher winds makes it non-operational at times.

I actually enjoy this ride, and do find it to be mildly thrilling, mainly because it touches on (for most of us) our natural fear of high places. The seats are not overly constrictive, and it does move quicker than one might think from looking up from the ground.

But...this type of ride is even more sensitive to wind, and that's why Cedar Fair ended up going with Mondial, which offered a more sturdy structure.

Personally, I find the Starflyers much more visibly pleasing, and more terrifying. I wish it could've worked at Cedar Point, but Windseeker is a nice consolation.

And I could be totally wrong about that piece o' Cedar Point history, but that's the story I remember from the Windseeker days.

:::shudder::: no thanks! They would definitely need to clean and disinfect my seat afterward (and I would be shopping for new pants) if I got on something like that!

I hadn't kept track of where it went after leaving Cedar Point - I just knew it was no longer here. So it was like unexpectedly running into an old friend last summer when we spent a few days at Dorney on our way home from the east coast. I took my daughter on Demon Drop and she was terrified at first, but then I gave her a penny and told her to put it on her knee and to keep her eye on it.

Has anyone ever puked from the top of Windseeker? What a mess that would be... and where it could land... Oh boy!

Maybe our resident cartographer Perpetual Obsession could create a potential blast zone map for us.

Last year my youngest was the victim of a strafing run by a fat CP gull. He was not amused.

Windseeker is crazy at night when the sun is completely down. The view looking out over the lake when it's completely dark is so...eerie.

When I was there last week on Thursday they where playing the Next Generation Star Trek theme song.

I road it on my trip last week. I thought it was very relaxing. As far as spinning rides go I didn't find it to be that bad. I think the swing rides they installed at the Six Flags parks are way worse to be honest.

I've heard the Star Trek theme, Star Wars theme, and Ric Flair's entrance music.
