I know the ride exists at other parks, but the other parks are too far to visit. So, the only Windseeker around is at Cedar Point. It holds a special place in my heart. I miss it. Last time I saw it open was around the beginning of Halloweekends last year. Am I just unlucky to go on all the windy days, even if the wind is just a light breeze, or is something wrong with the ride mechanically?
Quick question about Windseeker...
For people sensitive to spinning rides (motion sickness) how bad is Windseeker? I see this thing every time I'm at CP and want to ride it, but I'm concerned due to my sensitivity to spinning rides. I've had some thoughts that maybe because it's so high up and so wide that the spinning sensation is very mild? I know results will vary by individual, was just hoping to gain some insight from you guys who ride this beast quite a bit.
It spins faster than you may think. You definitely feel it pushing you into the seat. It's good that it's a short ride because it wouldn't take long for it to start getting to riders. I enjoy it, it's a good way to see how packed the parking lot is, which helps us determine if we are going to get to ride some of the more popular coasters or not.

It's not the spinny that get to me on this ride - it's the height. Kinda like why I don't like Power Tower Drop, or Giant Wheel.
I agree. These are the 3 "scariest" rides for me at CP, though I don't really love the Sky Ride either. I don't ride them often. I do get slightly motion sick with spinning, but Windseeker has never bothered me in that sense.

Windseeker is the only 'free' adult ride in the park that I have never been on (I am excluding SlingShot and Frontier Fling). I am not fond of the Sky Ride or the Giant Wheel, but have done them both a handful of times. I am absolutely terrified of the slower moving high rides. I talked myself into trying Windseeker once last year, but it shut down due to winds between the time we decided to ride it (while in the back of the park) and before we actually got to the ride entrance. I considered that divine intervention, and have yet to muster up the courage to try again. I'm not so sure that I ever will! (I know they are very different experiences, but I even have to psych myself up to ride Wave Swinger!)
With so many other rides that I DO enjoy, I question whether it is worth the anxiety involved just to say that I did it... Give me another go on TTD, MF, or Valravn instead.
Proud to have fathered a second generation coaster enthusiast destined to keep me young at heart and riding coasters with a willing partner into my golden years!
A few years ago I couldn't get on because everyday it was down for whatever reason, since then there's only a few days it hasn't been open. It's very TTD, ride it when it's open cause you never know.
Personally I love walking from the hotel and riding it first. Most people I go with won't ride and that's their loss. Power Tower still scares me quite a lot but nothing like Demon Drop. To this day that was the one ride that always scared the crap outta me.
The natural aesthetics of Demon Drop added to the terror.
First of all, it simply didn't look safe. At the top of tower, the way the ride slowly nudged and nudged the car out to its final pre-drop position made it appear as if the car would keep getting pushed out until it toppled over and down the structure. One could not really see what was holding the car onto the track.
And how many of us heard stories about "that one time" the brakes didn't work correctly and a Demon Drop car flew off the base and onto the midway? Visually, at least as a kid, it appeared this was, in theory, possible.
Is it still in operation at Dorney?
Promoter of fog.
