OK my mom is making me write this because she is worried about the winds tomorrow. They are calling for 25 MPH winds in the morning and 16 MPH at night. Park opens at 6:00 and I get in at 5:00. I know this has been discussed but its my mom. ;) I need answers fast. What rides will close in 16 MPH winds?

Thanks for any help!

P.S. ITS GONNA BE COLD!!!!!! :)

I don't know off the top of my head but there's a list on the CP website, 16 mph isn't really that much though. All I know is that the Sky Ride is the first to close for winds.

YEah I knew Sky Ride would close if someone blew their nose. ;) Thanks for a little help.

Not many close at 15 mph. Now 30-35 then you'll have closings.

Cold temps + winds in the right direction = TTD closed as well.

OK thanks guys. Ill check in the morning again for anymore advice. Leaving after school tomorrow! Cant wait. Im going to bed.

My teenage son and I went up on a chilly, windy Friday night last October and we had blast. The wind did not affect anything that we rode and it was coming out of the west/southwest 20-30 mph and made our eyelids flap on the 1st drop on MF. TTD ran great! I believe it was in the low 40's and later high 30's when we rode, but still a blast. You will be fine, CP wouldn't operate otherwise. Go and have fun and this is coming from a Dad that would tell his daughter to do the same, though, I would likely be the one talking my daughter into joining me at the point. :)

Better yet, take your mom with you and have fun together!

Yeah, I remember the Saturday during closing weekend last year was really cold and windy, wind gusts up to 40mph, the only thing that I saw closed was TTD (and skyride), but they were even running it later on with four people per train in the front car, if anyone remembers that.

Wind means our zones will have absolutely no fog in them Friday night. :(

I do welcome the cooler temps though.

Tell her that I said she's "TO fat to ride TTD."

It all depends on direction and gust. Wind speeds have to reach 30-35mph before you have to worry about coasters going down. I believe Raptor and TTD are the most sensitive coasters.

I just checked the forecast and they're saying 11-14 mph winds Friday night. I don't think that's that windy.

Does this really mean no fog?? Darn!

The fog will be on, it just gets blown away before it gets thick enough to provide any real cover.

I wish I was going to the point this weekend. :(

I will be there Sunday. It looks to be the nicest of the three days also.

Last weekend I was hankering the point bad.

Just remember, if they close the rides due to winds, you aren't allowed to unhook the chain and get in line anyway. No matter how many people are doing it.

Not to my knowledge it isn't. Just Raptor, Sky Ride and TTD if it is really windy. :)

^ - and Raptor is touchy to the direction. If that wind is coming off the bay (so that it is blowing AT a train coming into the MCBR) makes a big difference than a wind that is blowing the other direction.

Also, WildCat can be touchy in the wind. I watched them lock up a car at the top of the pullout from the 3rd drop while testing on closing weekend last year. They were getting set to open (it was at night) and after successfully launching cars with a ride-op, one of them decided to send an empty car. It closed and I don't think opened the rest of the night.

Then I woke up the next morning to find that someone had valleyed Raptor. I was not pleased with that decision.

We had some fun rainy rides on Maggie that last Friday of the season (I don't think this will happen anymore). Later that night they opened TTD at around 11pm or so when the rain stopped and I got 3 nice rides before the park closed, it was a walk on. We had to skip Saturday, my kid was sick. But we returned closing Sunday and the weather was wonderful.

In fact the weather was nicer in November to the end of January (except for a cold spell in Mid December) than it was for most of my October 06 trips! It was killing me to have the park closed then and I will be going through withdrawel in a few weeks here. I hate the off season! :(
