Brian, short answer: yes. "Betrayed". People who are situated half-way between Cedar Point and Michigan's Adventure get two parks for the price of one. Why should this be different?
Because it is different, and not even remotely the same. Detroit is what, 90 minutes from CP and twice that to Michigan's Adventure? It's not even remotely close to the same situation. GL is for all practical purposes in Cleveland, and for west-siders, less than an hour away to CP.
I've stated this before... next time you go to a Paramount or Cedar Fair park to use a pass from a different park, take a look at the list they have when you go to guest services. On a busy day you'll see maybe a couple of dozen passes used. It's a tiny percentage. In Cleveland, that would be a total nightmare and you might as well just make the park free.
And why should you feel "betrayed?" When you bought that Cedar Point pass, you didn't know the company would own Geauga Lake. It's not what you paid for. They didn't rip you off. Just because you feel hurt in some way doesn't mean they should throw good business sense out the window.

Edit: I went last year to WoA 3 times, the first time it was ok but it was slightly irritating, the second time I was a bit upset. The third time I was pissed off. So I don't think I'm going back in 2004. I will probably go back in 05 or 06 though. I'll probably go sometime in 04 now that I've said that though

I understand about the parks being too close to accept a regular pass at both parks. Here in MN, a VF pass is not good at Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America. Camp Snoopy is only managed by CF though, so that might be different. (btw, I got a ride on the new Timberland Twister last night...fun ride)
why deal with it during a summer of transition? Spend a year cleaning the place up, brining it up to standards. Those who'll come... will come. After improvements have been made, its time to showcase the park and open it up to everyone.

I'm not talking about a paperwork nightmare, I'm talking about a financial nightmare.
i.e. People from Cleveland won't spend $90 on a CP pass when they can spend $30 less on a GL pass. $30 is nearly the price of a full-day admission.
Or you get complaints about certain people from the area getting into CP for so much less because they bought a GL (SFWoA) pass for much less than they would have paid for a CP pass, without the intention of getting CP in the deal.
... just wanted to clarify.
I understand where Jeff is coming from. GL and CP are way too close to most people who will have CP season passes. Being from Michigan, GL is more than an hour further from CP for me, and I would likely not vist GL as often. But people in Sandusky, Cleveland, and all points between likely have CP passes already. It's giving them free access for a park that for years has always been an extra charge, even BEFORE it was a six flags park.
I'm not counting on CF allowing CP Season passes to GL even next year unless it's a special combo pass. I'm sure regular CP season passes will be available to those of us who live too far away from GL for it to make sense to purchase the CP/GL combo pass. GL, as well, will likely have a specifc GL pass, and the CP/GL combo pass for those who wish to go to both parks. The cost of the combo pass will probably be slightly less than paying for separate passes for each park.
Financially, that is the only way CF can do this and keep GL alive.
