Will you increase attendance?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sure going to make an attempt to get to Geauga Lake this year!

I made my first trip in 2000, and haven't been back since, mostly because of my negative experience and other negative complaints from the rest of the world. BUT that has all has changed now! Geauga Lake, a week ago, was not even considered to be on my list of MUSTS this summer, but now that it's a Cedar Fair park, it looks much more attractive and I am definately going to check it out this year.

What about you? Will you help increase attendance this year?

Of course. I'll get a season pass too. I always go there 4 or 5 times a year along with Cedar Point. Count me in CPcyclone.
I will not be going this year since the CP pass will not get you in to GL. I had a SFWOA pass last year and had purchased one again this year, for the specific reason of visiting other SF parks with my girlfriend and her daughter. Nothing at GL has enough pull on me to get a SP just for that, along with a CP and SF pass.

I will visit next year if, and when, they get a CP, GL combo pass. The park should be in a lot better shape by then also.

I don't plan to attend Geauga Lake this year, I'll wait til next year when the park is more organized. I've been going to Geauga Lake since I was two years old and they had "nickel nights" every Friday. When Six Flags bought it, and we went there the first year of transition, the park was a mess. The rides were closed due to repair or re-decorating the themes, the park was dirty, there was 1 ride op per ride, so loading took a long time. It wasn't enjoyable at all. I'd rather wait to see the new theming etc. next year. This year the park will look too much under construction, but I wish you all a fun time.

I'll be there. I already bought a SFWoA pass so I'll just convert it. They only other SF park I planned on attending this year was GrAm, but instead I'll go to PKI and check out their new waterpark.

I visited 4 times last year. As long as The Villain is there I will make the drive, regardless of ownership. I really love that coaster and most of the others there, including RWB(I'm not kidding). :)

We just got refunds on the 4 SFWoA passes previously purchased (we have season's passes to Cedar Point, but would usually only go 2-3 times to SFWoA.)

We no longer felt the need to go during this transition year, especially since admission will be likely be included with 2005 CP season pass. We'll just skip 2004 (and quite frankly won't miss it all that much.)

If Cedar Fair doesn't continue the "good at all parks" philosophy in 2005, or comes out with an "outrageous" season pass price, or tries somehow to separate GL into a separate season pass from the other parks, we'll be very upset. "Betrayed" would probably be an appropriate adjective.

Again, I'm immeasurably disappointed that CF won't let CP pass holders in to GL this year and think it will cost them attendance there. However, I think they can hit some middle ground by sending every Cedar Point season's pass holder a few free (daily) admission coupons to GL. That would satisfy me and would be a nice "reintroduction" to the GL park for those who had given up on it. How 'bout it, Mr. Kinzel?

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millennium Force is sinking...

So, you'll feel "betrayed" if what you were going to willingly pay around 90 (CP pass) + 40 (WoA pass) for this year doesn't cost that much next year?

Okay.

I think many people will come now that CF owns it. I always come anyway, I never did think the place was that bad. I think people will find that Geauga Lake actually has a good collection of rides and some that Cedar Point does not yet have.
If I can scrounge up the money for a pass, I plan on going opening day. This was not my plan a week ago, when I could care less about SFWoA's opening day (although I didn't realize it was a week before Cedar Point's).

Problem is the announcement came just 5 days after I got my iPod, and I am in the hole for that. Had I known about the earlier, I could have put the iPod purchase on hold, and gotten a GL pass instead.

Brian, short answer: yes. "Betrayed". People who are situated half-way between Cedar Point and Michigan's Adventure get two parks for the price of one. Why should this be different? Cedar Fair should keep the "good at all parks" philosophy (for the same season pass price) or risk alienating people.

Tim, how many people will come to GL if CF cleans it up but charges $75 for a season pass? FWIW, I don't think Cedar Fair will continue the family 4-pack pricing Six Flags offered.. Desperate pricing like that is what put them in the position of hemorrhaging money. It can't continue.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millennium Force is sinking...

How are they getting as you say "betrayed"? ¿Because for one year they are making it only the GL pass and tickets will be your only ways to get yourself into GL? Next year I am sure that all CF passes will get you into GL. I think this year is just gonna be a transitional year that they are not expecting to much to come from and next winter have the park the way they want it.

Next year I am sure that all CF passes will get you into GL.

speedzonetl04, if they intend to do it in 2005, why not do it in 2004?

I suspect they plan on making GL separate for season pass holders, or plan on raising prices significantly. Either would be a mistake in my opinion, more likely to backfire than result in increased combined attendance.

The more I think of it, the more this acquisition makes no sense (unless they bought it to close it and redeploy the assets - the topic of my other thread.) I give it 5 years max. Closing by 2009 (or at least not resembling an amusement park by 2009 -- maybe they have something else in store for the land.)

To Millenn. force is sinking too: how and where did you get your refunds for SFWoA passes? I need to get my refund too.

I went there the year SF took over.. I was unimpressed.. I then went when they bought the Sea World Side and X-Flight was opened.. I was even less impressed..

I'm going to go this year, not only to see the change but also to say hello to a friend of mine who's now working there.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millennium Force is sinking...

I would like to go this year, now the Cedar Fair has taken over, but I doubt it will actually happen. As a college student, I don't have a lot of cash, and Geauga Lake is even farther away than Cedar Point is.
All I have to say is:

A: Finally when / if I go this year I'll get my seat checked on not only X-Flight, but ?Raging WolfBobs?, because last year (the first I went since SF took over) I was completely not impressed. Oh that and the fact that an employee told us to shut the hell up because we were 'being annoying'. haha.
B: Thank God that place will have a company that CARES WHAT THE AREAS UNDER THE COASTER LOOK LIKE.
C: Not saying CP should *have* to do this b/c it is expressly said many many times before you board any ride there, but now GL will have staff that will go into lowzones for shoes, wallets, keys, etc. since we were warned by friends that they would NOT shut down the ride to get these items -- even if it prevented you from getting home!

I'd prefer not to shut my ride down for that stuff either. It makes the 1,200 people in line wait longer because some guy didn't secure his stuff. I know there are some cases such as keys and wallets where you sort of have to if they put up a stink about it, but in general, check back after our next trackwalk (we try to send someone right away if it's a valuable item) and if we don't have it then, check back at the end of the night when we can do a tunnel walk.

I saw more shutdowns for this type of stuff at CP last year than in the past and I'm not really sure it's a good thing. You might find the guy's stuff and make him happy, but in doing so, you are angering a lot more people. Yea, it's great guest service for one guy, but you're trading it off against making a lot of people wait longer and that is poor guest service.

Thankfully, we can search 95% of our ride area without shutting down so it doesn't become an issue too often.

Matt,

I'd imagine that most lost items on Magnum are found under Hill 3?
