Will the Bon Air section be the new hot spot to stay next year?

If the Bon air section is the wing nearest to magnum, then i have an interesting story. It is soemthing I overheard when I was actually staying there in 2004 Halloween. Me and my family were staying in the tower section, 9th floor. I was coming up from the pool to my room and saw two maintenance workers by the window talking. I heard them say the park should tear the wing down for good, then they critizised it in some form or whatever, saying it was nasty, crumbling, etc. Then they left and I went to my room, laughing. Just thought I'd tell.....

I stayed there in 2009. It was that way then too. I'm sure they know better than anybody since they work in it.

Interesting.

I know that the perkins just outside the park(in the sandusky inn?) is closed now.

That Perkins is always closed in the off season. I drive past it every day. There's another one on 250.

No, that location is closed permanently, and has been for...two years, at least. I was actually surprised to see some local person had decided to open back up the motel last summer. Still looked as crappy outside as it always has as far as I can remember.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I am sure the BonAir section will be demolished
and rebuilt someday. Until then, I like it because
it is a great location to crash at a resonable
rate compared to the rest of the hotel. The poor
quality doesn't bother me, but I am sure that
someday I won't have this option and will have
to pay the higher rates. That's Progress:)

I've always thought they should completely get rid of Sandcastle and build a nice nine hole course back there along the beach. But hey, that's just me :).

Actually, the Sandcastle land would be a great place for a Tower. You'd have great views of the water in just about any direction. If they knew how well the resorts side of the business was going to do back in the late 80s/early 90s I suspect that is what would have been built there. But you have to remember, when Sandcastle was built there Breakers still had the B and C wings, plus the dorms. The company didn't own any hotels off property and Camper Village was just for campers.

If there could be a "doover" I think an indoor waterpark resort (think Castaway Bay) could have been built there and tied into Soak City.

I have never stayed at Breakers or any other hotels except for the dorms, but the Rooms have to be better then the Old Dusk to Dawn on 250 and a couple on rt 6.

If I remeber right, the tower was added in 95 and east in 98 so those are not that old. The only original part left of Breakers from the opening in 1905 is the wings right of the rotunda and the lobby, Bon-aire was added in the 20s so they did not have to build a new hotel. So I feel Bon-Aire does need some remodleing from what I have seen

Witches Wheel has a 54 inch height requirement, I don't care if your child rode Dragster, Magnum or, Millenium, they are not tall enough for this one!

Save The Big Dipper!

I've only stayed in the new sections of the Breakers and they are as nice as any major chain. They are overpriced, but we are paying for the convenience of being next to the park.

Just the opposite. East came before the tower.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Omg....that place was a dump.

We stayed there once, and that was enough. As a matter of fact, I think they closed that hotel a few weeks after we stayed there. Funny thing is, some hotel websites still lists the hotel as taking reservations. It's been closed now for what...4 years?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Yeah, I remember that place looking really gross. I have noticed that they tore the whole building down too.

If you check out the blog today it shows a "yet-to-be-announced renovation". Could it be in Breakers?

I think so! Considering it's a Coffee Shop menu and the rumor...It's a real neat find. It would be cool to see it used/incorporated into the "new renovation!
