I agree, my rent isn't even that high either, but that's what my ex-husband paid for my daughter to go to the Y in the summer a few years ago, and we live in Michigan.
I'm on a fixed income so I can't afford Weight Watchers or any of those other programs to pay per month, it costs enough with car and health insurance as well as a few things I'm trying to pay off on.
I'm dieting on my own and sticking to a strict diet and excersize regimine, I just hope it's enough to be able to do so I can get on some of those coasters this year :)

Does anyone in Michigan even have that amount of disposable income?
Those that have jobs do.
We have income and Jenny disposes of it for us. (Don't forget we've got this crazy notion that its our money.)
I joined Snap Fitness last month, 49 a month for both of us and its open 24 hours. I've been trying to get there 2-3 times a week, but the weather hasn't been co-operating. (I know its indoors, but once the weather starts turning the roads into skid-pads, I prefer to be home and done with it). I'm planning to get there more and more as the spring rolls on.

I wish I had more disposable income, but with disability I only have so much a month and it covers a lot of my bills.
I did however manage to lose 3 inches off my waist since I started dieting on the 1st of January. So I'm hoping to fit on the Mean Streak and Corkscrew come May.
I was at 56 inches, I'm now down to 53 in my waist. I don't have a huge bottom nor large hips, it's all in my gut area.
I've been pricing around for diet programs like Weight Watchers, but I just can't afford the extra cost to join a program right now.. :(
Hope to lose weight on my own and keep it off.
Just an update (if anyone cares) I now weigh 241.5, I lost 24 1/2 pounds this year, I really hope the new seatbelts on the Mean Streak arn't tight this year. I've been really working hard to lose the weight to ride this roller coaster.
Congrats! That's very impressive! I'm doing my annual, slim down for Millennium Force... I'm always worried I won't fit. I'm around 250, with a 38 to 40 inch waist. Every year I get nervous. Hopefully this year will continue the trend of getting worried, but then getting to the test seat, and finding everything is still ok.
Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004
Congrats to you too Josh. I hope that your success continues. I highly doubt I'll fit the MF considering I have a 50 inch waist (down about 10 inches) but most of my weight is distrubuted down my belly.
I haven't weighed this weight since 2004. I have a long way to go, but I honestly thought with not joining a gym I would lose only 10 pounds, but I surprised myself this year, and with the wicked winter we had in Michigan I only started walking 4-5 times a week since the beginning of March.
I hope we can both make it to our coasters this year :)

As long as you get a normal employee you should receive proper attention.
As opposed to an abnormal one?
The new belts on Mean Streak, Corkscrew and Blue Streak if they are like the ones at KI should not give any of you problems. They are very roomy, the only one that might be a problem is Corkscrew depending on your upper body size (women who have bigger chests and men who are taller will have more difficulty then the people who have big stomaches due to the shape of the horsecollar.)

Thanks Touchdown, it sounds like it was a good move for them to put those in, my chest size is normal, just my belly is big, my height has never been an issue. My boyfriend might have a problem on Corkscrew though since he is 6 foot 1. But I'll guess we'll have to find out on opening day.
^Im 6'3" cant fit on Wicked Twister but had no problem (actually even had slack) on Top Gun and Vortex last year. He should have no problem if for some reason he wants to ride corkscrew ;). I never ended up riding this one last year, didnt really miss it.
If you are tall - sit in the front seat of the car on corkscrew. I can't fit in the back seat - my knees get jammed up against the seat in front of me, and I'm not excessively tall, either.
^Agree 100% with you there Kevin. Front seat of cars on Arrows, anything but the front seat of cars on PTCs.
Yeah, Arrows weren't designed with tall people in mind. In fact, Arrows weren't designed with much in mind at all. Anyway, I'm 6'5" and currently about 225 and I fit on all the rides. Some (like Corkscrew, CCMR, Blue Streak) are a bit of a squeeze, but I've learned all the tricks of the trade for tall people fitting on coasters. Crossing legs, sitting up as straight as possible, learning which seats to sit in (front rows of cars on Arrows). The OTSRs on Corkscrew and WT get tight as well, but there's not much I can do about that. The good thing for some of you guys is you can go to the gym and slim down, I don't think there are any "lose height" pills :D
My boyfriend can fit on everything, so that isn't a problem, my main concern is my stomach since I've lost 6 inches from my waist. I am anxious to see if I can fit on things like the Mean Streak and Mine Ride (I know the Mine Ride isn't that exciting, but I grew up on that one, so it would be nice to take a "trip back in time" in my mind while on that ride).
I know this is a dead post, but I wanted to say I tried the Mine Ride yesterday and I fit on it. I can't quite fit on Wicked Twister though, I got in the test seat with some help, but the buckle won't go down all the way.
I also rode the SkyHawk for the first time ever, to me it was intense, a little too short of a ride, but it really put some air in my lungs from screaming and trying to breathe at the same time.
Also the line for the Raptor was shorter than Gemini, but overall I had a better day at the park than Saturday.
I now lost 28 1/2 pounds total since Jan 1st. I was just happy to be able to fit on the Mine Ride this year.. all those days of walking off season really paid off.
The trick on the streaks is to pull the small end of the belt out in the corner, all the way against the seat back so it is hanging out, before you sit down. I have my riding partner hold the buckle up while I sit down so it doesnt fall back under me. Then just grab the retractable and go all the way back to the buckle (the actual size of the belts are much bigger now, so you can take it all the way across with no problem).
