Will CP ever put high-speed internet in?

I was wondering about this, since they have the perfect setup for it, it may be harder in the old apartments in commons, but those dorms are fine for it? I doubt they will though, prefering we pay 1.00 for every eight minutes on those crap-boxes ...er..sprint boxes in the lobby...Ah well, another summer of AOHell....and would someone please write the mayor of Sandusky and tell him or her that that city severely needs a Best Buy
I doubt it Nate.. you're not there to play on the internet..

I think we've all learned Cedar Point and technology don't mix... Besides, Cedar Point, in a move to save money, would probably have someone like Don Dick maintain the commons network :-)

This would probably be a big selling point for employees.  I probably spend more time on a computer than almost anyone (except maybe Natalie! ) and it was tough this summer not really having access to my own or even access to the internet (those crapboxes in the lobby don't count either).  This, combined with the phone line situation in that place can make it very difficult to keep in touch with anyone - even if its just a quick e-mail or a 5 minute phone conversation.  Honestly, I made it through the summer without a problem, only touching a computer maybe twice at the library, and I was definitely too tired from work to spend endless hours on the internet, but it would have been a great benefit for the employees to have some type of connection there.

Another point to consider is the security of the place.  I know some people brought theirs, but I really don't think I would have felt comfortable having my computer there.  With so many roomates, roomates you don't know, changing roomates, etc, it is kind of asking for trouble.

I think it would be nice to have high speed internet but I think we are dreaming!! They arent gonna spend any more money on us if they dont have to! Be thankful that you have cable in some of the dorms and apartments LOL.

I went thru internet withdrawal cus here at school im connected 24/7 and last summer I touched a computer only once. It was hard the first month but then you forget about it LOL. But the first thing I hooked up when i got back to school was my computer!! You really dont have much time for internet with work and parties and friends and stuff.
Before CP starts worrying about high speed internet access they should probably look at air conditioning, 20th century plumbing, and a multitude of other important things.
I cant imagine going throug the summer without email...and the internet...I love my job and I love CP...but I feel the need to know what's going on outside of Sandusky too...see whats happening in my hometown. The best time to connect was 3 am or early in the morning before work....my thought is...dont have the sprint machines for pay...they rip us off and its expensive for college students...make it free, but put a 15 minute timer on it...After dorm life, I just can't live without it...it's the first thing i check in the morning (the internet)

Best Buy does not create solutions.  Rather it creates problems, of people who cannot even configure a computer to connect to a network thinking they are L33T HAX0RS because they can use AOL to talk to mommy, create a homepage on Geocities that r00lz! and read 2600.com.  If you want things for your computer, there are places in Sandusky and around there to find them.  (end rant)

Seriously though, I highly doubt Cedar Point will get high speed Internet access anytime soon.  Doing so would require them to spend a LOT of money in both human resources and in material resources.  And just taking a look at Golds or Cedars tells you just how willing they are to spend this money.

As far as my experiences go, I brought my computer with me and set it up in my room.  I used a local ISP that gave me decent connect speeds and was able to communicate with a lot of people that way.  Phone problems didn't get to me much because by the time I got home normally everyone was already out or in bed, so nobody needed the phone at the time, and the outgoing lines weren't too clogged yet.  I use my computer for a lot other than just Internet access though, so I guess I don't really count.

And Matt, you're no competition to my geekiness, sorry.  95% of the time you have an away message up, therefore you've got a life so I WIN TEH CONTEST OF THE PALE COMPOTAR GEEKS K THX GG!!

as much as i would like to see CP get internet service such as those we have in college, its just not economical.  we are seasonal employees who are there for an average of 3 months...in college, we are there for about the other 9.  why would CP put the internet in for seasonal employees when it doesn't really benefit them, esp. in the off season.

not that i don't want to see high speed internet access... ;-)

i do like nate's idea of free internet stations with 15min time limits...maybe a possibility?

well you know Cedar Point....they're catapulting us into the 21st century with the rides but they are still stuck in the 20th century as far as technology in the dorms is concerned

First they need to get more phone lines installed. Its hard enough to just make a phone call, let alone logging onto the internet.
In spite of my constant bellyaching about the living conditions, I would have been more than happy to let things continue to slide in that department for the sake of checking e-mail.

Case in point: After spending a month at the point and FINALLY deciding to check my e-mail, my school account was shut-down because it was overflowing with about 800 messages--mostly junk.

If the world is going to be increasingly enveloped with the internet, I feel as if Cedar Point could find a managable way to let employees have slightly better access to it.

Buying shower curtains for Cedars can't be all THAT expensive. The most glaring problems with the living conditions weren't exactly the living conditions themselves, but the fact that they are messy and poorly maintained. Just when one problem was fixed, three other problems would arise.

Of course, this opinion is partially fueled by the realization that wing "G" of Cedars could never be made comfortable no matter how much money is pumped into it. Any building made of wood standing all day in a direct hit of sunlight, brimming with tropical spiders and smattered in mildew is probably past the point of renovation.
