I have heard from some very reliable resources that Cp is getting rid of valuable employees like hot cakes...... TL of MAX-AIR=Gone,TL of Gemini= Gone,2 Zone Supervisors = Gone, 1 Zone Supervisor = Not Rehired, This is crazy how can they afford to loose the valuable employees when they are allready understaffed!
Well if it's true, those employees probably did something serious to warrant it. Just because a place is understaffed doesn't mean they will put up with really bad employees just for the sake of having enough.
On the other hand though, I've worked with people who were known for their power-breaking and slacking off, and supervisors and managers would joke about it...these people would get re-hired since they were friendly with the higher-ups. Dunno.
It's unfortante that this happened. I am friends with some of those who are no longer with the company and I'm gonna miss them. I think this shows how serious the Park Operations Division is about holding all employees, whether its a supervisor or base rate "red tag" employee, to all the same standards regarding rules and policies.
This is definately going to create a domino effect on the staffing throughout the park. I was promoted earlier today to be the new TL of Top Thrill Dragster, while my previous TL was promoted to Asst. Supervisor of Zone 2. More and more promotions and moving of employees are sure to come within the next few days.
2006 - Assistant Supervisor Ride Operations
2005 - TL - Top Thrill Dragster
2004 - Dragster Crew
2003 - Mine Ride/Gemini Crew
Just a word of caution to all to be careful what you say in an online forum.
I believe but I am not positive that the employees above have a combined 23 years expierience at the park!! It just shows that Cedar Point will not tolerate anything!
I'll agree that is most unfortunate. The saddest part is that the employees that lost their jobs probably didn't even realize that they could be fired for what they had done.
I can appreciate that Management has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to that sort of thing, but I'm sure it came as a shock to those that were involved. It sucks that Management had to make an example of these guys, but if they were to have done nothing they could be leaving themselves open to a harassment lawsuit.
I hope in the future management can do a better job of stressing to its employees the definition of harassment, and its consequences.

I agree it is an unfortunate situation. I havent got the whole story yet, but from what i am piecing togethor, in one of the commons apartments there was writing on a door in a Sharpie marker. A new employee moved into this apartment. The new employee's father saw the writing on the door, dissaproved of the writing, contacted managment and all of the above then took place.......pretty sad that employees lose there jobs because of some writing!

Name me one other company which will tolerate vandalism of company property.
Thats a pretty bad thing to lose a job for. I thought it'd be something way more serious like ride operation saftey violations or something. *** Edited 5/17/2005 1:58:03 AM UTC by Kyle Dersch***

Well do you think everyone wrote one letter or something? I mean Im not gonna lie I have seen some pretty shady things done by cedar point to employees. Dont you think that there should be a little investigation done first? Not just fire everyone that lives in that apartment cause one person started vandalising stuff? Or maybe the should be warned or suspended first not just fired!
Why on earth would they fire 5 top level employees for someone writing on a wall. There's gotta be more to it than that. And if I remember correctly, hasn't the TL of maXair posted on this site before?

Enough said
None of the seasonal employees are top level employees by any means. They broke the rules. Our contract with Cedar Point states that our employment can me terminated at any time by ether party for any reason. Don't kid yourself. the fact is that we are all expendable employees. Any seasonal employees job can be filled at almost any time, especially early in the season. Like somone said before, I don't know of any company that would tolerate vandalism to their property.

I knew/was friends with all the people named above and if it's true that they were fired for something as fickle as this, then I'm glad I didn't go back this year. I mean seriously, I've seen much, much worse while living there. I have to believe that there was something else that sparked this.
I see two outcomes of this situation. Either employees will be scared straight and it will be good for the park overall (which I doubt will happen because the pay checks are still small this early in the season) or there will be dissention amongst employees because they will see this as a threat to their chances of finishing the season and getting their bonuses at the end of the year. I mean, if they kick out several experienced workers for something as frivolous as this, what's to stop them from dropping people for an offense just as arbitrary later in the season when people are nearing the end of their contracts.
I will seek out some friends who work there and see what they have heard...

Put 10,000 young adults ages 18-25 in one area with a little bit of alcohol little supervision and not much to do, you would be surprised at some of the stuff you would see......Believe me!
10,000?? Are you staffing Geauga Lake and PKI as well?
Either way, this is how rumors get started. One thing actually happens, then someone who "knows" says that this is what happened, then someone else says something and before you know it they were fired for sacrificing chickens.
I'm sure it was something MUCH more serious than just writing on the wall (it does wash off). Secondly, if these dorms are like college dorms, then there are probably white-boards on just about everyones door for messages.

You know you signed a contract. Personally I think its rather funny the great TL of maxair got canned. He desevered what he got he has always thought he was above the rest of you who work at Cedar Point. All his butt kissing with the higher ups did him NO GOOD. For once he got his.
