Why not a CCI Woody

Just look at Cedar Points stats 12 steel 2 wooden. I dont understand why anyone would have anything else #1 on their list except a woody. Its Cedar Points main weakness. How many parks have 2 coasters over 200 ft-no one, how many parks have 15 inversions- not too many, how many have lots of coasters for little kids- not many, how many have 2 wooden roller coasters- EVERY MAJOR THEME PARK. And alot of other parks woodies are much better no offense to the two streaks. Mayb ewe will get a woody probably not but why would anyone here want anything else. A CCI is what CP really needs.
CP is not a "theme park".. and I'm really beginning to hope we DO get a CCI just because if we don't.. it's gonna be a LONG winter on this site listening to everyone whine..

MF 2000 - 269 laps

MF 2001 - 68 laps as of (6/4/01)
I'm not trying to whine, I'm simply stating the facts and showing others the need for woody.
Yes and this has been discussed for long enough now! Just go to another thread and say you'd like to see a woodie.

Crady Crady!! CRADY CRADY!!
Okay, I wanna know something here...

As much as I hate to contribute to another whiny thread about "oooh i want a CCI woodie" I really have to know....

Aside from most people herebeing enthusiasts and having a liking for CCI coasters, why does CP need another woodie? What business sense does it make, honestly? I know I'm not in the minority when I say this, but really... give me some solid reasons here why they need it. As good of rides as CCI makes, what would CP's marketing angle be?

Jeff, who doesn't see the "po!nt" of all these threads about the same useless topic...

That's actually the question that's been on my mind Jeff. Although I want a CCI, we have to understand that it might not be that appealing of an addition to the GP (until they ride it that is). CP would have a hard time convincing its advertising audience that a coaster under 150-feet-tall would pack just as many thrills as MF.

Once again, I want one, but like Jeff said, how would CP market it?
I agree, for Cedar Point to debut a Woodie and have the GP be cool with it, they would have to get something else to go with it.

The reason a woodie isn't number 1 on my list is because woodies do nothing for me. Steel coasters do the same thing woodies can do and a whole lot more. The only difference is the woodie feel. More elements can be achieved with steel. Thats why I don't look forward to a woodie.

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
I think that a wood coaster (I hate the nick name woodie) could be effectively marketed if it were part of a bigger park expansion. In other words, I think that a classic style wooden coaster added as part of a boardwalk expansion could be effectively marketed because people would already want to visit the new area of the park.
I am going to write a nice note to CP asking them to go to this site for ideas for a new coaster, this way, everyones happy

And ask them to accept e-mails about a new coaster 2002!
Well Rollerfan, Cedar Point does look at this site. They even went off on Jeff when he was at the park last season for something about Millennium Force (seat belts?). They look at this forum and this site

Yeah, they do look at the site. I guess last year one of the MF ops yelled at Jeff for posting that he gets a lot of room on the lap bars, and then stapled him. I also remember some rumor that employees were forced to print off a thread from here, read it, and then sign it and turn it in. Anyways, the answer is yes, they do look at the site.

Steuks!!
To most of the GP's eye, CP has 10 steel and 4 wooden coasters. I love explaining to people that Gemini and Mine Ride are not wood. Because the structure is wood, most people think its a wooden coaster. I had to explain it to my uncle, and he's been going to the park for 25 yrs! I agree CP could market a wooden coaster either along with another coaster or an expansion such as a Boardwalk. Just my two cents

Who need wood? CP has done great with steel. I think a Tilt would be the best choice!

Although steel coasters are smooth and can do alot of other things woodies cannot nothing beats a good woodie.

I might have agreed with everyone on the increased abilities of steel over wood before this past spring break... and then I went on Ghostrider at Knott's... we NEED a CCI!

I agree, take a ride on Ghostrider, then tell me CP couldn't market the heck out of a top 10 wooden coaster.
It's easy....market it with the "Boardwalk" expansion area complete with vintage flat rides from the past and for a twist, make the woodie run BACKWARDS!!!! The slogan could be "GOING BACK IN TIME"
(yes, CP needs a backwards coaster too)

Hmmm, it seems to me someone from Cedar Fair once stated that every park should have a CCI woody. What can a CCI woody do for CP? The same thing any great ride could do. Can you imagine shivering timbers running along the beach? I know that's a little much because of all the other items along that stretch, but the point is a great coaster is a great coaster and CCI makes great coasters. I'm not necessarily a big woody fan, but I do like CCI.
I agree that it would need to be packaged with a new section of the park, namely the boardwalk concept. I do think that the boardwalk concept will happen, it just makes too much sense. I think that if they want to create an old fashioned boardwalk, then a woodie is a must. CCI would seem to be the logical, and my preferred choice. But please, not the highest, fastest, anything -est except for b-est, 110-120 feet, airtime, a helix, tunnel, and high speed turns with many criss-crosses, along with 3 PTC trains. Throw in some flats (bring back the Bayern Kurve!!!!), lakefront views, and you have a quality addition to the best park on the planet.
