Why no more B&M installs?

Why hasn't Cedar Point got any B&M's recently? They've only been buying from Intamin
Maybe I'm ignorant or stupid, but, I don't know what B & M Stands for.
My guess would be that after coasters like Raptor and Mantis, they decided to go back to building record breaking coasters. After seeing that Intamin could deliver what they wanted (meaning MF), they figured Intamin could keep Cedar Point in the record books. And so far Intamin has done exactly that.

Oh, and B&M stands for Bolliger & Mabillard

Is Cedar Point just going to use Intamin from now on? That means no more hypercoasters, no 4D's, no more bumpy woodies like Meanstreak (thank God for that one!)...

Might I remind you that both Raptor and Mantis were record-breakers when they opened.

what records did these rides break?

I think we could see other companies soon. Cedar Point wants record breakers, they don't have to be height, they could be most inversions, largest inversion, highest of that type of coaster. B & M doesn't always do height but they do do inversions.

Yes, Mantis and Raptor were record breakers. When I said "record breaking" I probably should have put "record smashing" or something along the lines of that. I mean astronimical records (i.e. 200 ft. 300 ft, 400 ft, hopefully 500 ft someday ^_^) Things that get the park noticed around the world, not just around Ohio. Sure Mantis and Raptor were record breakers, they were definately not record breakers like Magnum, MF, and now Dragster.

Raptor was the tallest and I think fastest/most inverting inverted coaster. Mantis was tallest/fastest/most inverting stand-up coaster. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please.
I'm sure they didn't completely flush them for good. Intamin just had the products they were interested in. I'm not sure if the rumor is true or not, but there was one floating around that Cedar Fair asked B/M to build Millennium Force first, but they turned it down due to the height.

I hope B/M makes a triumphant return with a Flyer sometime soon :)

Correct me If Im wrong but wasnt one of Raptors Records First Ever Cobra Roll??
Yeah, Raptor did have the first cobra roll on inverted coaster I think.

I think CP aren't building any B&M's because they already have a B&M stand up and inverted. Getting a Floorless wouldn't be unique because Batman Knight Flight is just an hour away. A B&M hyper twister isn't nessasary because they already have a giga. Sit-down loopers may be a possibility, but they aren't as thrilling, and it probably won't have the world record trend CP is used to. And adding a flyer just would just take away the uniqueness of X-Flight.

But as time has told, arrow came up with a great idea in the "X", and Six Flags bought into it. So I'm sure B & M is working on their own prototypes. But like everyone else has said, the only model that would really fit would be a flyer, just becuase it would be so much better than X Flight or any Flying Dutchman for that fact.

Yes, as far as I recall it was first cobra roll on an invert, but not first ever cobra roll.

Uhm. I'm not sure if you're aware of this: Cedar Fair and Six Flags are two seperate companies. I'm pretty sure that Cedar Point isn't concerned if they "take away the uniqueness" of anything from SFWoA.

It sure didn't stop them from building Wicked Twister, even though there's an impulse "just an hour away..."

There were Cobra rolls long beofre Kumba, they just weren't called Cobra Rolls.

How can we forget the Vekoma Boomerang and Drachen Fire?

Thats right Virginia, I am Santa Claus.

I would imagine that Cedar Point has gone with Intamin recently because of both unique products and a comparable quality for a cheaper price.

Well, cobra rolls only appear on B&M's because it is their term for that element. So technically it was the first cobra roll but not the first of that element.

I wouldn't mind seeing a B&M Flyer, that would probably be a fun ride. I'm glad CP has gone with Intamin for the last three rides, I much prefer the two across seating. B&M makes some very nice rides, but I think the four across seating is just not very good.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

I enjoy four across seating. Ride with more of your friends. 32 people instead of 28 -out of my way every time a train full leaves the station! I also think the wide track proves to be most smooth. (besides mantis, cause I reck'n it's "settling" and is a little ruff these days, and the fact that one's standing.)

I love B&M, second to Miller&Baker. Intamin rocks hard as well! keep 'em coming!
