It has great food, drinks and the view of the lake is fabulous. If you have a Joe Cool card there is a large discount. So, why does it come in last in the Buzz survey for sit-down dinning places.
I think it's possible to eat there and not spend any more than the Midway Market. You can get an appetizer and make a meal out of it.I guess I'm amazed at it's lack of popularity, because it's our favorite eating place.BTW,I'm hardly well off, as I'm retired and on a fixed income.

I enjoy the Breakwater Cafe myself, but I think it is a little too far from the park to make it very popular with park guests. It is mainly for Sandcastle Suites and Lighthouse Point guests.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Pete,
The point you make about the distance is valid, but I think that once someone tries it,they would be back. Its a nice place to stop if youre leaving for the day. There are also busses which provide transportation.
Location is it's greatest feature and greatest curse.
That restaurant is in the best location on the peninsula. But, it is also a trek for folks who are in the park.
It is great for Breakfast and does ok at dinner but even Sandcastle guests don't really venture all the way back there for lunch.

You really do have to get in your car to get to it, and personally, if I get in my car to eat, I'm going to eat off point.
P.S. I deleted that post because I was thinking of that little Italian resturaunt inside of Breakers, not the Breakwater Cafe. ;) *** Edited 6/16/2005 3:57:43 PM UTC by Fastball84***
You need to get in your car? Are you insane? I can't think of a visit to the park where I haven't circled it twice, walked up the beach, etc. Give me a break. The exercise won't kill you. If you stay in LHP, are you going to drive to the gate?

I wasn't implying that you needed a car to get back there. You could walk or ride a courtesy bus. What I was getting at is people, for the majority, don't want to leave the park to eat lunch if it is going to take quite a while.
I don't mind and do it frequently. I like the fact that it is quiet at Breakwater during lunch.

I was referring to Fastball's post.

I realized after the fact. But, I'm glad to hear at least some people enjoy a good walk now and again.

Outside of Sandcastle guests, I doubt most people even know it's back there. That's not a bad thing, though, if you're looking for a quiet meal.
Since I've never stayed at a CP hotel, this is the first I've ever heard of this place. I'll have to give it a try. Is it in one of the hotels, or is it a seperate restaraunt just back by the hotels?
Cedar Point rocks my socks.
It is next door to Sandcastle and was opened when the hotel was build. It is pretty standard food. The breakfast buffet used to be wildly popular for hotel guests.
Frankly, it is the prettiest location at the Point. It would be a great place for Bay Harbour but it would be too far for Marina guests who frequent that restaurant.

My retarded mistake. I thougt it was by Breakers Express, I don't know what the heck I was thinking. And right there is the reason it isn't more popular, most people don't even know that it's there. *** Edited 6/16/2005 6:35:28 PM UTC by Fastball84***
To be honest, we drive over to the resort gate from LHP after checking out. Otherwise our cars get parked and don't move while we are there. Its as much to clear out from the LHP parking areas for the newly arriving guests as it is so we don't have to walk that far after a final long day in the park.

Breakwater is listed on the park guide along with the other out-of-park restaurants. Again, most park guests just don't want to head "that far" to eat.

everytime i have eaten there it has been packed for breakfast, especially during hollowed weekends, does fairly decent during dinner, tends to attract the older crowd. Being in my 30's if i was in my 20's i would be looking for more time in the park instead or exploring outside the park, plus i always thought of it as very upscale resturant due to its location. Never thought of it as a long walk acutally quite easy to get to, and well worth the short hop skip and jump to it
Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
Judging from the comments,it seems like many do like this place.I wonder why its the least favorite of the "sit-downs"...
you can take the sandcastle suites shuttle from the hotel gate to get to breakwater cafe. or, it takes only like 5-10 minutes to walk there. i mean really, think about how far you walk around the park all day. its really not that far. :)
i eat there for dinner every time we go to the point. but, its tended to be a little dirty and slow the last couple times i've been there. but, i still like the a/c break and relaxing dinner as a break from the day.
