Why did you work Cedar Point?

Why did you go to work at Cedar Point? I went for a few reasons. First I love amusement parks Cedar Point was my second choice after Kings Island. I also went to become more independant. Then finally I went because I love fear. To hear those hundreds of people screaming gets my blood rushing.

Hay also for some reason they took down my post before with this on it so I'm bring it up again. Click on the website below and tell me whats wrong with this picture?

I'm working there because I love amusement parks, I've worked at a park for the last three years.... but really, Denver is not the place to be. So, it's off to somewhere bigger and better, and here's where I ended up!

There's something wrong with the picture? It looks like my old apartment, only nicer!

I applied to work at Cedar Point last year because it was time for a change. It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment, adventurous thing. I had worked at McDonald's all throughout high school (I'm from a very small town with few job opportunities!!) and after a year of college I just couldn't go back to that. One of my college friends and I were walking around campus one afternoon and we happened across a job fair where Cedar Point was presenting. I'd been to the park many many times and absolutely loved it so I VERY impulsively decided to apply. I interviewed on the spot and everything, without even preparing. It was crazy! When I got my contract back I was so incredibly excited -- and I haven't regretted it since. I had a blast last summer and will be coming back for '02!!

"How much does it cost to go out on the beach?"

After visiting Cedar Point every year for the past 13 years or so before last year, I decided to apply about this time last year. I ended up working 3rd shift and that was fun. I'm coming back this year as a ride host and I'm sure it';s going to be a blast. :) I'm ready to go the end of April.

I've been getting to the Point every year since 1982. I'm 20 years old...so you do the math. I've been in love with the park every year since my first ride in Kiddy Kingdom...anyone remember the dukes of hazard cars? Anyway, during a trip to the point when I was four it rained like mad and the park emptied. Around 7pm there was nobody left, and I happened to be the only kid in kiddy land! My grampa "tipped" a very nice ride-op $20 to tkae me around to every ride in kiddy land...run the ride, and then go wherever else I wanted. I've wanted to work there ever since...maybe to give back a little for something I appreciated so much. This'll be my first year....and I haven't been able to stop smiling since I recieved my contract. I'm looking forward to my best summer ever, and hope everyone else has the same.

I've been to CP about 6 times since 1991. I was eleven when I first went and fell in love with it. I started thinking about working there back in 2000 but I put it off a year because there was another job wanted to do up here first. But I did apply for last season and now I'll be back for a seacond season. For me it was almost like a do or die situation. I was 20 and never really been away from home on my own except for school. CP has taught me how to be independant. I couldn't run home to Michigan everytime I need something. I had to get it or live with out it. And if I had to do last season over again I'd do everything the same. :) Sorry about the novel. :)

Ok, I have to put in my two cents now. :) My senior year in high school I took post-secondary option classes at Ohio University and went to the job fair, was interviewed and applied to Cedar Point. A few weeks later I got a contract in the mail. Let me tell you, moving that far away from home straight off the bat, was not an easy thing to do. But I did it, had and amazing summer at Stockade, thanks to the greatest supervisors a girl could ever ask for :) (thanks Gallagher, Grimace, Shawn, and Bill) Anyways, I came back as a Supervisor in 1999 at Gullivers, 2000 at Los Gatos, and 2001 as the Soak City Area...and now onto my fifth year! Everyone always asks me why I keep going back. Cedar Point just gets in your blood and you just can't imagine yourself anywhere but there. I can not imagine a summer without it.

okay. I originaly joined the CP crew in 1998. I had just gotten out of high school the year before and all my plans for th future had fallen through. My life seemed to be going no where and I needed to get away from it all. I got out there and it was nothing like I imagined. I had a HORRIBLE time and didn't make it through the summer. My problem was I didn't open up to anyone.(Let this be lesson to all you newbies.) I went home for a year and moved to Wa. state, trying to get away still. That worked for a while but in the end, I just had to come home. Too many obligations. When I got home, it wasn't any easier to deal with the stress. I mean, I had nothing, in my opinion. Parents complaining (even though I moved out when I was 18), son's mother nagging, roomate wanted me gone, most of my friends where gone to college, leaving me here...in a mess. Well, One day I came across one of my friends from high school that HAD stayed and hetold me how he worked at CP the year before and how much he loved it. I told him I worked there 2 years ago and how terrifying it was for me. In the end he convinced me to go back with him and try again. Maybe even work on TC with him (and I did.) I got out there and it was like a completely different place. I opened up, my stress left, and I got my life in order. I owe Cedar Point a lot as doo I owe my friend (Dan Carr.) Now, I'm going back for my fourth year with chance of blue tag and I feel great. I, also, couldn't imagine where I'd be without Cedar Point.

My turn! I fell in love with the place in back in 1994 when I went there for my first time. I had never really been to any amusement parks (with the exception of a 7th grade class trip to Geauga Lake but I don't really count that). So anyway, this new thing was just such an exciting one of a kind place to me that I decided that I absolutely had to get a job there. I went to interview at the Raddison during my senior year of high school, and got hired to work Wave Swinger/ Swan Boats for the 1999 season. I started work on my 18th b-day. Despite a lot of problems that our crew faced, I stuck with it. I had so much fun and just felt a connection to CP that has kept me wanting to come back (even though I always swore that I never would). This will be my 4th season and I can't wait to see some old friends, go to all the parties, and overall just make the best I can out of what I look forward to being a great season!

Now it's my turn. Cedar point obviously has had a profound effect on my life. When I first applied to work there I was a senior in High School.Since I all the places I have ever applied too never hired me I thoght that there was no chance of me getting this job.Thankfully I was wrong.I got hired onto Ocean Motion originally but when it came time to do the training Chris Fike said "We need People For Camp Snoopy." so I volunteered and never regretted it.Without Cedar point I would still be a loser without a social life and no friends, now i have a social life and a lot of friends heck, I even fell in love at the Point. But alas that was not too be but thats for a different time. Thanks Cedar point You Rock!

I started working there in 2000. My first summer was not the best. Me and my crew didn't get along well and I didn't have a car to get off point. I met some really cool people including my best friend Kelly. I swore I would never go back. Last February I started to feel the need to go back and be with all my friends. Plus Kelly was breathing down my neck all the way from Florida :) I decided to go back and had the time of my life. Now it is once again getting close to April and I am going back and can't wait to get there. It is whatever you make of it. If you sit around and do nothing in your off time then you are not going to enjoy your summer. But if you go have fun you are going to make alot of new friends and have a blast. And I agree CP does get in your blood and draws you back.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

I started working at CP out of sheer boredom...i was in my dorm room in 1999 one late night and decided to check out CP's site...I clicked on jobs, met the campus rep (she was hot) and had a job within two weeks...I keep going back, I'm not sure why :) Nah--I love it, good people, good money (if you save) and an overabundance of cute girls :)

Ever since I started working at the point I have had more respect for those poeple who work rides at other parks.

I want to set the record straight I have NOT been sending annie e-mails,I have NOT been sending her messages and I have NOT been harassing her.So whatever she told you kelly is a LIE.and you should of come to me before making any snap judgements and this is between kelly, annie and me ONLY so the LBFL members BUTT OUT.One more thing read this and think about it before getting all ticked off and if it did tick you off then come talk to me about it before spreading LIES.

Ever since I was tall enough to ride coasters and took my fist ride on magnum, I loved it. From that moment on, every summer that my family and I went to CP I became more and more attached to the park's atmosphere and fun vibe that the employes put out.
Along with this I learned the spiel from Magnum and knew it by heart, which I drove my family and friends crazy with, and I'd always tell them "One day I'm going to work on Magnum".
In 2000 that came true I work my first season on Magnum and I loved it and had a blast!! Like many of you have mentioned already CP gets in your blood and draws you back.
I now have a much better respect/tolerance for ride op's at all parks.
