Why did the remove Chik-Fil-A?

I have no issues with equal rights. Everyone in America already has them, though. Also, I've been asked to check my "privilege" because apparently my people owned slaves and I should pay for it. My family came here in the early 1900s when slavery was illegal for a long time, so yano. But this is point buzz, not political buzz.

Am I the only one who thinks that the chicken at Chik-Fil-A is too dry?

I've had dry and moist chicken there but it is far from my favorite. The sugar they add makes it too sweet and it is a poor substitute for honey. If they used real honey it would probably still be too sweet for my taste buds but it would be a better taste.

That, good sir, is a VERY dangerous and ignorant assumption to make. Racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, and other intolerant ways of acting and thinking are still very much things that exist, and to wave them off in such a casual manner is just not right.

Do keep in mind that lesbians and homosexuals only JUST got the right to marry, and that the current administration has designs on taking that away.

Not true - it's been an ongoing struggle. Look at Indiana's recent efforts to legislate discrimination by way of calling such discrimination "religious freedom". And now one of the chief proponents of that legislation is in the White House.

Yeah, so weird that people are apparently protesting all kinds of things for no reason at all.

Frontier inn was above average. Last time I had it (few weeks ago) they accidentally put some fries in my salt.

I recommend going with the side salad. The ones I've had this season have been pretty fresh, and a moderately healthy option for a long day at the park. And you can get some ranch dressing for your tenders.

Yes. I always get the side salad with the tenders. Just to add a modicum of nutrition. I'd like to try the fries though.

Racism: Asians have to score 500 points more on average on SAT than African Americans to get into the same college, and as a white male, I have to score 300 points more than an African American. I am also expected to, for some reason, repent for slavery even though my family never lived in the USA during that time, and nobody alive in the USA was ever a slave in America.

Sexism: According to a recent study in the U.K., women in the age group of 20-30 , before childbirth, on average make 2 cents per dollar more than men in the same job and position.

Transphobia: I am scared of transgender people. Very scared. But it's only due to traumatic experiences I've had in the past I'd rather not talk about. Also interesting to note: until just recently, Gender Dysphoria was know as Gender Identity Disorder. Plus, every cell in their body has either an XX or XY set of chromosomes. No ammount of surgery or hormone therepy can ever change that.

Homophobia: yeah, at this point I can't think of any major things that happened since the Pulse shooting. Most people are okay with this. In fact, I think gay people are really fun to hang around, because they're not afraid to speak their minds, in general. Unless they're being obnoxious, I personally say, let them thrive.

Other intolerant ways of thinking: so, in other words, I'm assuming you're talking about islamaphobia, right? Well, muslims are less than 1% of the population, and they accounted for the majority of mass killings, so I mean...

This just in: middle class white male concludes discrimination no longer an issue. More details as they develop.

This guy's killin me. I just can't.

But I'll try.

Racism is alive and well in every US city. At this point it has very little to do with slavery.

Sexism is too. I don't know how wages in the U.K. effect us, but I worked my entire life in corporate America. They did their best to be inclusive but for 33.5 years I was there to witness the disparity in opportunities for women.

Transphobia is the "disorder" now, not gender non-conformity. Maybe you should get help. And in the mean time it's never been or will ever be about chromosomes and you won't meet a trans person who says it is. It's about being comfortable in your own psyche and body.
And what, did you accidentally clock one in an embarrassing moment or something? (Look it up) Never mind, it's no ones business.

Homophobia: Well, I'm glad you keep us around for a laugh or two. I hope you don't get too tired or find us too obnoxious. And it's funny, but I keep my straight friends around and/or avoid them for those same reasons.
And wait, what? It takes something like Pulse to wake you up? Sir, I live in a very progressive city and gays are harassed or injured on a daily basis just for being who they are. For visiting a bar. For holding hands. For stopping at a stop light. You should know this.

Islamaphobia: So if Muslims are 1% of our population, who's there to be afraid of? My more rational fear is of the good ole boy USA white supremacists who lately seem to be trying to corner the market in terror. So, I mean....

Considering alcohol related traffic deaths in the US average around 10,000 annually I am much more terrorized by that than any Islamist. (Or random Christian terrorist for that matter)

Since the thread went here, I'll bring it up. Was in the park on Sunday with my wife and two daughters and the older one's boyfriend. We got off the train at the Main Midway and the two girls went to use the bathroom right outside the train station. They didn't take long. It turned out there were young men using the women's bathroom and understandably my girls were not comfortable taking care of what they needed to in that situation. At the time, I misunderstood and assumed that these were just young boys in there -- maybe with their mother. I found out a short while later that they were actually older teenage boys which my older daughter estimated to be in the 15-18 year old range.

I have no idea if these were boys who personally identified with the female gender and decided to use the women's room or if they were heterosexual teens thinking this would be funny (or even something beyond that)... Needless to say, their presence made some women very uncomfortable.

It is not a topic with an easy solution, but ALL rights need to be considered. Without knowing the sexual orientation of these young men (does that really even matter?), I was naturally upset when I realized their age and that it was not an innocent mistake. Does that make me intolerant or does that make me a father concerned for his children's public safety?

I thought you said everybody already has equal rights in America, now you seem to be complaining you don't have an equal right to take the SAT on a level playing field. Many factors go into setting those standards, they're not based solely on race.

Sexism: According to a recent study in the U.K., women in the age group of 20-30 , before childbirth, on average make 2 cents per dollar more than men in the same job and position.

So one study in the U.K. of women in a ten year range who don't have children proves there's no sexism in America. Huh. Can't argue with that kind of proof.

Perhaps you should get on the computing machine and check out comparitive wages in America.

Transphobia: I am scared of transgender people. Very scared. But it's only due to traumatic experiences I've had in the past I'd rather not talk about.

Perhaps it would be best not to bring it up, then. I cannot imagine why anyone would be scared to death of complete strangers who just want to live their lives in peace.

It does sound like your story would be a great episode of Dr. Phil, though.

Homophobia: yeah, at this point I can't think of any major things that happened since the Pulse shooting.

Gays and lesbians attacked, discriminated in the workplace, denied housing ... nothing major. I'm happy to learn you're willing to let "them" thrive.

....I'm assuming you're talking about islamaphobia, right? Well, muslims are less than 1% of the population, and they accounted for the majority of mass killings, so I mean...

Actually, radical Christian terrorists account for the majority of mass killings in America. Remember Timothy McVeigh, perpetrator of the second largest terrorist attack on American soil? Remember Dylann Roof, the perpetrator of the Emanuel EMA massacre?

Rusty: what you're describing is different than transgender people using the bathroom that matches their gender identity. Transgender folks just want to pee in peace.

What the hell, I'll go on topic: I don't like CFA. At all. Been to one in Orlando several times, thought the food was 'meh'. If I'm going for fast food Taco Bell or Wendy's get my vote.

^^Coincidentally, I accidentally used that same woman's restroom a few years ago by mistake!! I was so mortified, I fled the park out of embarrassment.

I visited Tokyo some years ago, and many places have one bathroom with stalls marked for men and for women.

My first day there, dining at KFC, I had to go and was surprised to open the door and find a woman fixing her make up.

Rusty:
It's a good question. I'm not a trans man, but I know many trans people so while I'm relaxing in the cool, air conditioned comfort of the Red Garter, I'll make an informed attempt.

You are absolutely right to be concerned for your children's safety. Every parent is.
I didn't see the situation, and neither did you. But my guess is these were not boys who identified outside of their biologically assigned gender. They likely were teenagers being asses and seeing what they could get away with. Or who they could shock. I hope they meant no harm in a predatory way.

Trans people have restroom issues. Most have lived their lives using the traditional gender-appropriate restroom. I've never heard of a case of a man who has not transitioned and who is dressed as a man use the women's room because they're more comfortable. But once they enter into a transition period, and if they outwardly portray a specific gender, common sense dictates that they use the restroom assigned to how they appear, and in hand, how they feel about themselves. This is not always an easy situation, however, as there's a fear of being found and possibly accused of wrong-doing when all they're ever trying to do is get in, pee, wash up and get out.
I know a fully transitioned man who is 100% confident in his appearance and his decision to live his life fully as a man. He publicly confessed though, that the final hurdle he cannot seem to get over is the idea of using the men's room. You and I have used the men's room in a variety of places and I'm sure we can agree that it must be a weird experience for those who are used to the safety and privacy of the ladies'.
A good solution is for public spaces to supply customers with one or several gender-neutral restrooms that anyone can use in privacy. I realize putting those in big, busy places like amusement parks and stadiums would be not easy, and would be costly as well, simply as an attempt to accommodate a very small segment of the population. But then again, anyone could use it for whatever reason that they don't have to specify.

But it all speaks to the challenges that trans people have daily, and the bravery they have to drum up just to live in the way they feel they were intended to. It ain't easy. People like Caitlyn Jenner and Chaz Bono have fame and money on their side, and they still run into misundertanding. Can you imagine how those who can't retreat into luxury manage?

In short, don't worry about those boys or what would be the appropriate thing to say. I think you already know.
