why cedar point?(to new people)

i am just wondering? when they are so many parks to choose from? i just did it for a change......
Cuz I've already spent my days off in the summer driving up and back to the park. I figured this summer I would cut out the two and a half hours of travel time :)

That and I need a change of scenery soon or I'm gonna choke all of my friends.

Well, Cedar Point is one of the few parks with dorms which is a deciding factor for most of the employees.
yea...a lot of the other parks don't have employee housing...that's a big deciding factor for me, plus im only an hour away ;)

I've been going there for years and in 7th grade I met a friend that also loved the point. We've been friends ever since and have had plans to work there the summer after graduation...

Working at CP was the most impulsive decision I ever made...and one of the best ones, too!

Haha...you sound just like my phone interview: "Why here and not there?"

I was given a choice of working at either CP or MIA this summer in order to pursue my career with amusement park PR in '04. I chose CP simply because it is, in my opinion, the best. The employee enthusiasm and pure recognition in the industry is second to none. I'm glad I made the right choice :).

Honestly, when I was around 14 I decided that I wanted to work at CP in Rides someday because I thought the uniforms looked cool. Ahhh, what fun those old jumpers were...Also, I thought it looked like fun, because the employees on the platforms of all of my favorite rides always seemed to be having so much fun. And, it's close to home. :)

Just like Cedarpointchic, I have been going to Cedar Point my whole life and in 7th grade I also met a friend who liked the Point and we have been friends ever since... We have had plans to work there the summer after we graduate... Well, this friend is cedarpointchic.... and why not Cedar Point? It's the BEST one out there!!!

By the way, what's MIA?

Michigan's Adventure...a park owned by Cedar Fair in Muskegon, MI.

For me, the decision to work at CP instead of somewhere closer to home was made over a series of visits to various parks between 1997 and 2000.

During the course of those years, I visited a bunch of parks including Great Escape, Six Flags New England, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Darien Lake, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Paramount's Kings Dominion, Knoebel's Grove, Hershey Park, and of course Cedar Point.

I'm not sure if I realized just how special CP was during my first visit in 1998, but perhaps when I went back to some of the other parks and saw how poorly in comparison they do things compared to CP. Don't get me wrong, BGW is a beautiful park (even nicer that CP to be honest) and so is Hershey (their operations are even pretty good compared to everywhere except CP). CP is not perfect in every regard, but in ride operations, they are the best that I have seen.

When I returned to CP in 2000, nothing had changed. Virtually every ride had at least four people on the platform checking restraints and every ride ran at full capacity. Not only that, I noticed that the employees at CP actually seemed to have fun! The way the ops at CP spiel is something I hadn't seen anywhere else and it was refreshing and fun as a guest. If I was going to go away from home and work on a coaster, I wanted to work in the best place I could. I felt that with my work ethic and enthusiasm for coasters, I could fit right in at CP and I was right.

Explaining why I want to go back this year is a little more difficult. I defninitely felt the urge to go back last year, but I was able to resist because of school/job factors at home. This year, those same factors still exist, but I'm caving in and hoping that it might actually be good for me to get away from here again. My dad told me that when the family came to visit CP during the 2001 season and saw me working that it was the happiest they've ever seen me. To be honest, they were right! CP has become a very special place to me for a lot of reasons and it is definitely hard to say no to going there for any reason! :)

ya i do miss the old uniforms. it was alotta fun then! oi vey-
As a guest, the speils (and employee attitudes) are a huge part of CP's attraction. I was shocked on my visit to Knott's last fall that the ride ops said exactly the same thing, the same way, every time. Safety info, and nothing else. The ops may not have been bored, but they sure looked and sounded it. I'm told (via coasterbuzz) that the ops at Knott's have been encouraged to start livening things up. IMO, this is all for the best.

Cedar Point's employees, by and large, are having fun, and it shows. It also makes a big difference for the guests! It's one reason among many that I plan to make Cedar Point a regular part of my family's summers.

as "99er" said previously..." Why not CP?" i mean...the employees are wonderfull and look to be having a blast, and if your into coasters, the ability to roam the park at your free will on off days is also awesome :)

I love Cedar Point, and whenever I'm not there I wish I was, so working there this summer ought to be fun. It's the closest park to me, and for several years now, I've wanted to work there. Having the best amusement park in the world at my disposal on my off days will be a blast. It will be nice finally getting away from home without the burdens of studying for tests and doing homework...and this way I'll be making money instead of spending it on tuition.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

yes...i think that happens to every employee...they get fed up or sick of everything and wanna leave, or when you leave at the end of the season, you say your never coming back....but many realize after a week or so how much fun it actually is and the many people you meet...those people are like your adopted family for 4-7 months or however long your there and you begin to miss them all after a few days....like myself, you give in and end up back there again looking forward to all the fun things and dreading the thought of allllll the irritating things, but overall, its an excellent place to work and live, let alone to be a guest at. ;)

Matt, you're coming back? That's awesome!

Unfortnately, I do not have my home movies anymore... I'll have to find some new ones, haha...

Anyways, I had always wanted to work at CP once I found out about the dorms. I was in high school at the time, but I really wanted to work there for a summer while I was in college. I kind of forgot about it until my sophomore year of college. Disney came to our school, and I interviewed for their college program. Unfortunately, our school was at the end of the tour, and so there wasn't any good jobs available. I got hired into housekeeping. There's nothing wrong with housekeeping, but I figured that if I was going to work at a park, I was going to do something that I couldn't do at home. Then, I remembered CP. While there was a slim chance of getting into rides at Walt Disney World, I was pretty confident that I could get into rides at CP. So, I filled out an application one night on a whim, not really expecting anything. I was shocked when, 2 days later, I got the call, and was offered a job in rides. I can honestly say that working at Cedar Point has changed my life, and I am a totally different person now than I was back then.

I could have applied at another park, but nothing beats seeing the expression of people after they hear that I work at Cedar Point. I always hear, "You must have an awesome time." And I do. It's not fun and games all summer long, but the memories will remain with me for the rest of my life.
