Why are we so mean??? Please read.

I agree, The forums have been a bit tense lately...I have to say i'm not the nicest person here, But i think the reason for some of the stupidety is because of the "Ban Hammer". Some people Get banned for saying something or whatever it is and come back with posts like "HEY, Did you guys hear CP iz bilding a new rid?". I mean, i dont think people are that stupid to come and do that if they had any common sense or that would want to stick around.

I Know from expereince...i Got Banned before, I certainly didnt do anything like that...but i felt so pissed off when i got banned. Because, i was just getting more posts and somewhat of a reputation. But i'm not going to get into that now. I Thought about it, and after a while i came back....i was alot smarter than i was before. Not, saying i was stupid before, I just made a mistake. But i could see why some people would go and make new accounts and just post non-sense.

I agree everybody has to be a bit nicer, but This has be on both sides...some of the stupidety has got to stop here, its pretty simple...the stupidety stops...there will be no reason to flame. But also the people that Flame have to lighten up, I include myself in that too.

Personally, I'm sick of posting somthing and then seeing "You have exceeded your post quota set by the administrators." for a a few months now. I dont see a reason for that, but whatever, i'll just have to live with it.

Dan, Great Topic...There was a GREAT need for this finally to be discussed.

Big D - How can you change your ways in less than 3 hours? IN the other post, you said "Oh your not too smart."

Honestly now, how did that comment have anything at all to do with the original poster's post. He/she must have had a reason for doing that, and will probably learn from his/her mistakes.

Big D, I don't think hippocrits go over too well here.

Hell I've been here as long as Dan. I still get flamed by people that have been here 1 month. Sad thing is in their 1 month of posting they already have more posts than I have had in years. I'm not going to repeat all the stuff Dan or anyone else said, but I don't think it could have been put any better.

I've been here in one form or another since the beginning pretty much too. I'm so used to flaming around here I almost expect it for every post I make. It always does seem to be "drifters" to the board who make 1 or 2 posts then disappear. Oh well, maybe one day posts will be thought about before the user hits the post new topic or reply button. Don't count on it though...

When is a flame a flame?

Flame=you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny. It's strictly personal and below the belt.

On the other hand, vociferous dissent is just a part of discussion. It's the nature of the beast.

As I've explained only as many times as posters have typed 'CP ROXOR', those with a frail sense of self and fragile ego might take a strong disagreement personally. Perhaps they need to re-examine their own motivations for posting. What they feel-however strongly--is nothing more than an opinion. Same here. I may disagree with somebody on a given topic and that's about that. I don't get mad or stay mad at anybody. And why should anyone else?

Ya know, sometimes when you hear the same ol' same ol' for the 8,372nd time you can't resist the urge to have a little fun with it. And nobody's above a little tweak now and then. Frankly, during last week's 137-post descent into madness on CBuzz, I lampooned a user's post--but spent as much time making fun of me as anyone else. Most people figured it out and had we all had a good time laughing our butts off.

Don't forget to bring a sense of humor with you on the boards.

I offer my help:

Hippocrates = A Greek physician.

hypocrite = a person who pretends to have virtues that he does not.

Hmm, I dont think i'm a Greek Physician.

Thanks Chief

Usually I post here all the time, but the volume of noise and stupidity has escalated to a point where it's no longer enjoyable to read through threads. I have to wade through moronic posts just to read some worthwhile comments. The reason for me not coming here very often lately could have to do with not having much time, but it is more likely the aspect of idiotic posts.

Yup, it's the offseason and withdrawal seems to be setting in right on schedule. It's gonna be a looooooong winter.
Amen Dan! Beautifully said. Beautifully constructed. Logical to the "N-th" degree. May I also suggest to all those who want to respond to what they feel is "stupidity" that they do so directly to the original poster via email. Last time I checked, you can find the persons email address rather easily. Please take advantage of this nice little feature and keep these boards clean!

I don't know if the problem is people being mean all the time. I read tons of stupid posts here that noone says anything about--but then again, I also see posts that don't seem too objectionable that get flamed into oblivion. Posts like that usually are New Topics, but not always.

The word 'mercurial' comes to mind.

I think that everyone has their own oppinion but that does not mean that if you disagree with someone else's you need to flame them. Untill the announcement most of this is all just speculation. Probably, I could be wrong it would not be the first time. But everyone has the right to believe what they want about the new ride.

Chief, are you saying that posters here need to take a "Hypcritic Oath"? Or perhaps a "Hypercoaster Hypercritical Hypocritic Oath".

Here is a truly sad fact:

The people who respond to these threads and say "yeah I agree with that and we should all be nice to each other and keep these boards clean blah blah blah", turn around and say something stupid or flame someone else 5 minutes later in a different topic....

I pretty much stopped Flaming now, I try to hold back and just keep it in...or e-mail the person and say it.

neo, I've noticed that too. But I have to say that, for the most part, we have gotten much better. Way to go Dan! I see a stupid comment made and then cringe at the thought of the flames this idiot is about to get. But they don't come (at least not as many). People have been getting really good at switching back to the main topic.

The Fast and the Fearless

Words of advice from a wise man: A husband that argues with his wife all day, sleeps on the couch at night. How this applys to being mean on this site is unknown by me, but it sounds like it fits. ;)
