Why are we so mean??? Please read.

Being one of the few and proud who have been on the board since day 1 I just wanted to throw water on the flames. I know that everyone here is waiting for the announcement. I can understand how frustrating it is waiting to find out all of the little details that we don't know. I also know that it is frustrating reading the Area 51 forum and seeing all of the negative comments. We CAN make this the best site on the net for PO!NTERS but its up to us. It takes time, patience, common sense, and common manners.

* If someone posts something that is similar to another thread simply don't respond, or give them the link to the thread with the similar topic. There is no need to throw in the extra comments, "like you idiot" or "use the search function first" Remember the mods will take care of it if there is a repeat topic.

* Don't give in to the urge to flame, or mock people becuase they may be new to the boards or not know whats going on lately.

* Don't jump all over people if they make a false statement or don't know what they are talking about. People are human just like you, and belive it or not they do make mistakes.

It just seems to me that the entire feeling of the Area 51 forum is negative. People we are about to get one of the greatest roller coaster thrill rides ever! This is a good thing, even it turns out to be a short ride!

Just think before you post.

If you feel the urge to respond in a negative way towards someone just sit back and let the mods delete it as a whole.

I want to be proud to say I post here, not embarassed.

After reading around at what's been said, I've actually been afraid to post anything for fear of being flamed; hence, posting is (was?) at a minimum. Glad there are some here that think it's gone too far.

17 straight years of real thrills and counting...

I agree, although when I first started posting (different name then) way back when, I was flamed for some of my opinions. But really, listen to Dan, I support this site, even though I run a site of my own, I always come to CP Place to read the latest chatter about new rides and so forth. Please keep in mind, this is a forum, not a stress-reliever.

Thank you, Dan! I was getting afraid to post here! All someone had to do was type one tiny, incorrect detail in their post and they would be attacked. I figured if I said anything about my opinions on things I'd be ridiculed and isolated like the others. I don't think that's what forums should be like. It's one thing to correct or inform people, it's another to criticize and insult them.

Welcome to White Water Landing. You are ascending to a height of fifty feet...

Couldn't agree more, but some of the people that have we replied to this topic are hypocrites. I don't go out and bash people, I only do it when I'm bashed. It's so hyprocritical when you reply by saying "Go Magnum Dan!" when you're one of the people he's talking about. I know I said some negative things, but it was envoked and I do fight back. If you don't like it, get off the damn thing so the people that want to just use this forum to give opinions and discuss coasters can do it without immature interuptions. Grow up or get out.

What did I do to you besides ask you if you had something against Pee-Wee Herman? Jeez!

I'm not necessarilly talking about you, I just used you as an example. But just to let you know, I am Pee-Wee Herman fan. How else could I have said that without being one? Let's just drop everything, and if anyone says anything negative for now on, just tell them that they're not welcome and end it with that. Cool?

Ahem, it's too bad this board is flooded with hateful remarks. This is why it is nice to see some great comments by the great Dan once in a while.

Yeah, I agree, some members can get downright mean. That's why I mostly only lurk nowadays, I don't really want to get made fun of at a board about my favorite park.

Well said Dan....why be so negative over something so awesome? We shouldn't have to wonder which part of our posts will cause someone to jump on us. If someone has more to learn, or doesn't share the same opinion, it should open more discussion, not insults.
I find it sort of ironic that in a post that was trying to tell people to be nice (which I totally agree with) there were some that couldn't keep their comments to themselves. This is really starting to make me mad. I only signed up a few days ago, but I have been reading the posts for over a month. It was hard not to notice that the flames were getting worse and worse. There are people who actually have good points to make, but they are usually overshadowed by someone who has to say something stupid. I wish people could lay low and keep to themselves, until they have something useful to contribute instead of just flaming everyone else's comments.

Speculation is fine, but if you post something stupid that isn't well thought out, or post just for attention, you get what you deserve.

Other annoyances: Play-by-play cam updates, "I think it's more than L-TH-B," "I herd frum my unkle," any post where single letters are posted to represent words, etc.

Enjoy the rest of your day here at CP Place.

Thanks for starting the topic, Dan. I'll admit that my friend and I were posting rumors, but we didn't intend to fool anyone, just report what we had heard. Since the board environment was becoming hostile, I was considering leaving the board until CP made an official announcement, but now I think I'll stay (and post about things that make sense).

Now let's all get back to the reason we joined this place in the first place: to talk about Cedar Point!

W'ere all a little tence here ,and excited at the prospect ,that a new thrill ,is soon to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public:) I'm a newbie and I must say I think this site is just what I need to keep an old man entertained during the winter months. Keep up the chatter and play nice

If you mean tense, I'm not tense at all. It's a stupid message board about an amusement park.

Come to think of it, there aren't many things that make me tense anymore, other than perhaps airport security. Not because I mind what they're doing, but because I'm worried I'll miss my flight!
