Why all the arcades???

I don't exactly enjoy the arcades located at Oceana and the former Pirate ride. They don't get much business for one thing. However it's cheaper for there budget. Something should be done to these places in the future becasue they are a waste of good space.
I never understood why somebody would go all the way to Cedar Point and pay the admission charge and wallow admist all the the wonders that the Point has to offer and squander their time in an arcade! The old games are the only reason to go to an arcade there. You can find the latest games in any mall but those old ones are hard to come by. I especially like those really old mechanical contraptions like the ones you find in the Town Hall Museum.
Joe: I was going to post almost the same thing until I read yours. I agree. People, stay home and play games, I go to CP to ride. Turning the Pirate Ride and the Old Aquarium into arcades was terrible. I can only hope that better plans are on the horizon.
Ah, but remember, not every family member will enjoy all the rides! And the arcades make a nice break after a meal before you head for the rides and so forth.

One word for you: Rain.

Perhaps, but there are plenty of people in the arcades on beautiful sunny days as well.

As far as I'm concerned, watching a rain storm at CP is way more exciting than an arcade. Heck, even browsing a gift shop or strolling over to Hotel Breakers is more exciting. I don't get to CP often enough and if I can't ride, I at least want to enjoy the scenery.
When my family used to go to Cedar Point as a group, Dad would sit in front of the IMAX and watch the people, Ma would play FAscination all day (except for pizza, french fry, and bathroom breaks) and my brother would spend all day in the Main Arcade. Never could understand any of them. Arcades! Fascination! People-watching! When there were coasters to ride!

But not everyone is a coaster enthusiast.

I think the point Joe was making is that there are a lot of people in the arcades on beautiful days, wasting their time. Even if you just got done eating, there's plenty to do than spend time in the arcade. Now, rain is another story.

My point was that not everyone likes to ride. My parents never rode much of anything except the train and carousel. They always had a great time, though. So people want to spend time in the arcades (or watching shows, or playing games) - big deal.

Believe it or not, there are some people who can't understand why a coaster enthusiast will spend the whole day running from one coaster queue to another, all while ignoring the rest of the park :)

I'm experiencing a bit of deja vu here. Is Gemini recycling posts?
Just as long as the keep the Frogger machines running, they'll keep me comming back to the park. :)

Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
Cedar Point definatly has their arcades more set back than other parks. Take Kings Island, everywhere I went there were arcades and all kinds of impossible gaming junk. I dont care about the arcades and never really notice them.
Hey Gregleg1.. WHERE IS THE TEMPEST GAME? That was my favorite game when I was in High School.. and in the 12 years I have been at the park I have yet to find it in an arcade there.. I would love to find it somewhere.. if it is actually there.. please let me know what arcade you saw it in.

It's not quite the same, but you can play the original Tempest at games.com.
