Which park - SF America or King's Dominion

Ok, fellow PointBuzzers, I need your input. I'm going to be in D.C. in early June and will have one day to spend ateither Six Flags America in MD or down at King's Dominion. I have neverbeen to either park so would like some feedback on which one to visit.
On the plus side for SFA - I can Metro there from our hotel forabout $5 and it has cheaper tickets. Negative - many trip reports I'veread about it makes me think this park has seen better days.
King's Dominion - plus side- more coasters, Cedar Fair park, more to do. Down side - more $ for tickets, driving, parking, etc.
I await your feedback.
Thanks.
This visit will be right after our trip to Cedar Point forCoasterMania, so I know that whichever park I choose, I will be underwhelmed.

I would say Kings Dominion! KD is a nice park and so is Six Flags America but the last two times we went to SFA we had a pretty bad time because rides were closed and dispatch times were low. Kings Dominion is a great park especially with Dominator and Volcano! Love those coasters!

The real correct answer is Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, its 2.5 hours away from DC. Best park north of Orlando by far.

However between the two you posted do KD.

I think KD it is. Been to Busch Gardens but neither of these 2 parks. From the feedback I've received from here and another coaster sight, I'm going to King's Dominion.
Thanks!

Definitely KD if you are able to get there. I went to both parks in 2007 when I lived in DC. It's nice being able to take the metro to Six Flags, but that's the only nice thing about it. That place is by far the worst amusement park I have ever been to. KD is a pretty nice park but has a lot of mediocre coasters. However, they've since added Dominator, so their mark goes up a little bit. Plus, at KD there is a pretty good chance they will have more than 3 or 4 coasters open, which I definitely can't say about SFA.

One other thing to note. If you happen to go to SFA, it can be a little confusing after you transfer to the bus. It goes through a bunch of residential neighborhoods for like 15 minutes before you ever get to the park. The only reason I knew I wasn't on the wrong bus was a bunch of kids wearing Six Flags employee uniforms got on with me.

You can take the Metro to get to Six Flags now? Wow, I bet it's filled with even more 12-18 year olds than it was before. Crazy, yet great for SF business. Sounds pretty convenient.

I'm with Touchdown. Busch Gardens Europe is the best park in that area hands down (although I've never been to SFA). Kings Dominion is pretty good if you can't make it there, though.

Well, you can't take Metro completely to SFA. You can take the Blue line to its last stop on the east - Largo Town Center - and then take the C21 bus which stops at SFA entrance. It's about a 15 minute bus ride from the Metro stop.
