Where's Maverick? Funny Picture Caption!

Okay, moving on...

Maverick's debut has certainly garnered more media attention than usual for Cedar Point. Unfortunately, we've seen plenty of misprints in newspapers such as the Sandusky Register, Toledo Blade, and even USA today. For whatever reason, "checking your sources" has seemingly become an option in journalism today and you're find plenty of errors, especially when it comes to "minor" details regarding such things amusement parks. Most people don't know the parks and coasters like we do, so newspapers can get away with stuff like this. I guess we just have to deal with it.

Hail to the Victors

This is almost as bad as Fox 8s coverage on Magnums little crash. They over hyped it and said the ride was Millennium Force.

I voted for George W Bush. Are you insinuating something about my intelligence level because of that?

djDaemon's avatar

That would depend on which time you voted for him.

I was a year too young the first time, so the second time.

I sure as hell wasn't voting for John Effing Kerry.

And probably using the same rationale as those who re-elected Kilpatrick... and Granholm.

Re-electing a liar doesn't exactly scream academic move.

Not that 2004 was the first time that happened.

Yeah, no kidding. People went out in droves in 96 to re-elect the biggest liar ever.

djDaemon's avatar

Really? The biggest ever? By what metric? Surely not lives lost, I'm guessing.

Nope, we're using fat chicks to measure this one. ;)

Hey... Where's Maverick? Oh that silly silly picture caption... it's amazing how one small comment about politics can completely derail a topic...

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

Even more amazing is that people who have been witness to countless cases of this still mention it, as if it were a new phenomenon. ;)

Brandon

Are people seriously ripping others for not knowing ride names? Just because people don't stay up all night in their parents basement typing about Cedar Point does not make them dumb.

Well darn, I guess I'll continue to go through life being stupid because I vote for the person who best represents my views and has a chance of winning.

At least I still stand by my vote, and haven't missed an election yet. ;)

JuggaLotus's avatar

^^ - when its the general public, I'll agree with you.

When its a newspaper reporter or photographer, I'm going to rip them for it.

Although, I still find it funny when the wait-time sign says "1/4 hour" and teenagers think that means 25 minutes.

*EDIT - fixing carets because Ben got in the way*

Darn me. I'm always in the way.

And it's more than just teenagers that think 1/4 hour means 25 minutes. I heard all walks of life say that at Power Tower entrance when I worked there in 04.

Your neck probably got sore from all the head shaking.

I'll agree people should know how to tell time and reporters should know their story. But a person being called dumb who may have never been to the park is right out.

Not everyone is a super dork like us. ;)

Wow. Is there ANY thread on PB that doesnt get out of hand atleast once? Even the mods get into it lol! Sad.

And if you can honestly say the Hilary and Bill are less liars then bush you have something wrong. Everytime I see hilary now its a different view, atleast bush belives in something.

On to the real story, I don't think it's that much of a big deal, and dont act like none of you have ever mixed up something before. Hell, half of you probably mixed up burger king for McDonalds ;)
