Where will the next big ride go

flisk, we already know that the slingshot ride and it will be done in a few weeks, you can see it in other threads.

I don't think Cedar Point would start building a coaster right now that would open up this year. Like opening day of the coaster could end up being a few days before the park closes.

Anyone ever watched that documentary on that airport out in Japan i think. How they made land out in the middle of the ocean and stuck and airport on it. CP could do that for alot of rides. And just to clarify this I know Cp doens't have a space problem but that would be a good way to expand, if they would be allowed to use some of the lake up.

Favs:
1. Iron Dragon
2. Raptor
3. Gemini
4. Magnum
5. Demon Drop
They would never get permission to do something like that on Lake Erie, let alone for building coasters.

That crazy rumor about the parking lot could work in the future when they do run out of space, but it would take a lot of money. It would also be odd....the raptor in the middle of the park?
force312, Actually that wouldn't be too far fetched. Look at the Cedar Point Causeway, it is practically the same thing but not was wide. They built that to get the coasters so why wouldn't they be allowd to make a bigger island to build more coasters ?

I've got a feeling Troika and Chaos may be relocated...

I agree Rock And Roll Dave! I'd love to see Oceana torn down and a whole new area brought to life over there. I think a coaster or some flat rides could help it. Also, bring some type of sit-down restaurant to the area to brings peeps over there during lunch....

mikey :)
Toronto 2008: Expect The World
Eric, I think your right about Troika, and Chaos. One of the areas many of us believe a new coaster could go in is where Troika and Chaos are standing.

Former name was B-Town
I'm still thinking about Petree and the "Most Loops" comment...hmm...

Let's just cross breed MF and the Magnum and see with what we come up with!!!!

Whatever the Point gets next, it is going to rock.
Easy. You'd get Steel Dragon.

LOL!
The sad things in my mind about our suggestions of the Troika and Chaos areas, or the Swan Boats/Thunder Canyon/Carousel Pavilion areas are that (a) those would involve removal of yet more green areas and trees, and (b) those would be putting rides in already "cramped" pedestrian areas. Some days I wonder if I'm the only one who feels "cramped" by the Iron Dragon/Wildcat/(ugly screen)/Mantis/MF corridor...just not a pleasant place to walk (except for looking at the coasters).

The Oceana and Peanuts Playground "midways" are certainly off the beaten track, have the added advantage of the Lake view, and, I would think, help spread the crowds more evenly around the peninsula.

Just my 2 cents.
My 2 cents are...we dont know a thing about this new "coaster" cp is getting next year. For all any of us really know we could be getting a flying coaster like x-flight. I thought when they announced m-force they said the next thing on the drawing board was something with loops. But putting anything in oceana would help that section. So i really am hoping for it. A thrust air is so terrible at loading times cp may never want to get one. At pkd it took 25 min. for them to get me from the spot where you enter the loading station to on the ride. And its not worth 17 seconds , maybe if the drop were 150 feet taller and there were no brakes up the hill it'd be ok though.

Hypersonic XLC- 17 seconds of ride....only 1.8 of which are fun
I don't think cp needs a ta2k or a floorless.
they have enough b & m coasters already and already have an S&S ride (power tower) and another one on the way. i think they should build another woodie. what cp should do is build a multi level parking structure away from the park (you know cp it would probably be the tallest parking garage in the world!), and have a monorail to get you to it like they had in the 50's before they built blue streak. And then you have 64 acres of emty space! cp all ready has 12 steelies and only 2 woodies. they could do with another woodie. You all remember what came after magnum!
The Oceana midway has to be dealt with, if nothing else than the misnomer it has become. Even the food stand close at 6pm because of the lack of traffic. So to suppose the brass has some clue to the unused nature of this track is logical. I think any speculation would have to revolve around this area.....And the Western Cruiser has made some very good points about the other areas discussed.....

as for a woodie - using the Magnum/Mean Streak is probably the worst comparison you could draw. I mean, logically, would you say: "Last time we put in world class coaster we followed it up with a complete disaster woodie, lets do that again..!!!"

um, Frontierman, Mean Streak wasn't a disaster when it opened. I believe it was rated the #1 woodie in the world that year. It's a disaster now due to maintinence issues and those god owful brakes!
Um, yeah, I am pretty much aware of that....

And just because I liked it then and still like it now, doesnt mean it isnt a disaster - because it is....just watching it from afar is painful, it has nothing for momentum and pacing.... *** This post was edited by Frontierman on 7/16/2001. ***
Okay a ta2k would'nt be too bad. but maybee they could build a shorter woodie that wouldn't need trim brakes after right away. as for the oceana midway, you could probably fit a ta2k there.

With regards to a small wooden coaster, I belive that Coasterbuzz had the rumor of tearing Oceana down and putting it between the Giant Wheel and Breakers...
