Where to stay?

Am planning a spur of the moment trip for this coming weekend (August 16-18) and need some advice on where to stay (3 adults and 1 child). Was looking into Hotel Breakers but am getting scared away by the negative reviews. The room I was considering would be 2 bed queen room "located either between the 1st and 4th floors of Breakers East or the 3rd and 9th floors of Breakers Tower" according to the website. Not looking for anything brand new but need it to be clean and the beds to be fairly comfortable. My other thoughts were to check out the lighthouse point cottages or find a hotel nearby that offers a shuttle as my husband is not a rider and would like the freedom to go back to the room if he chooses. Any suggestions?

Breakers East or Tower would be fine as would Sandcastle. Don't expect great and amazing hotel rooms, but they aren't going to be nasty.
