Where to live....?

It's my first summer at the Point, where's the best location to live?  After looking on the CP website I narrowed it down to either Bayside or Commons Apts.  Any thoughts on the differences/advantages/disadvantages of either place--also in comparison with Cedars.....I'm sure everyone has a different opinion on this one....

Bayside is nicer than commons but if you want a true CP experience, live in commons you'll meet more people....commons is like the apartment complex in the movie "singles"

It's also really hard to get into Bayside. It's the first to fill up because it's so popular. The only opinion I can share with you is...DON'T LIVE ON-POINT. Not that I have any hard feelings about it...it's just not one of the best decisions I ever made.

It's interesting how everyone says not to live on-point.....isn't it more convenient to live there?  I was thinking that taking a shuttle to work everyday might be a pain....but it seems that no one really complains about it.  If you have to be at work at nine, for example, what time do you have to leave your dorm (off-point) in order to get there on time?  Also, if I start work on April 8th, do I have a good chance of getting in Bayside or not?

I would say a good time to leave for work at off point housing is about 8:00 - 8:30. This is taking into account days in which you will see traffic backuped up to the point of (and usually much much much farther) than the traffic signal at the corner of the causeway and first street. It usually takes traffic contrtol a half hour at the most to get the traffic at that light parked. (According to when I have waited in that lines on several occassions)

The entire on point expierence is one that I don't really want to wish on anyone. I did it last year and, granted, it is eiser to get to work and you don't have to worry about traffic, but the spiders, muffleheads, mayflies, and the sheer size of the dorms there just makes it less desirable. I also didn't have a car last year so it was very hard for me to get food, espically late at night. I totally reccommend living off point because you will have more conviences in the long run, and make more friends.

Neil, if you are starting work on April 8th, then you should have no problem whatsoever getting into Bayside.  I was in Bayside last year and it didn't get full until the end of April, I think.

Taking the shuttle isn't all that bad, but you have to leave your room about an hour before you have to be at work, to account for the ride itself, then clocking in and walking to your work location.  The shuttle ran every half-hour, but leaving a 1/2 hour early won't really give you enough time to get to your work location, unless you can run pretty fast ;) So I'd suggest giving yourself an hour, to avoid tardy points. That seemed way too time-consuming to me, but the one thing I would suggest is to try and make sure you get a sufficient amount of sleep each night, that way you'll be refreshed in the morning (or whenever your shift starts) and and have enough time to take your time.  There's so many people and so much to do in your off-time, it's easy to get carried away ;o  Hope you have a great summer!

Hey what are those little cottages where Arron Radaz parks his trailer? (when you take the causway over!)

Wicked Twister Rocks
The cottages are for special guests such as Aaron Radatz (who just recently performed here at Ashland, actually) They are usually called the A-Frames.
