Sorry to dig up an old thread, but yesterday at Winter SOAR Tony Clark mention a new dancing/interactive water fountain is going to be replacing the ball fountain in 2009.
I had to search Pointbuzz to prove to myself that the Deja Vu I was experiencing didn't mean I was psychic.

Tony said since they don't have any water areas/rides for children, the fountain will remedy that. Its right next to Kiddy Kingdom, so I'm sure it will be a popular thing for kids on a hot summer day. It's nice that the main midway has been seeing some attention the past few years and been receiving some updates. I think it will be a nice change, even though the old fountain is nostalgic for the park itself. I remember reading an article not to long ago about Blackpool Pleasure Beach's new interactive walk-through fountain. Not sure if this will be the same as CP's, but they look really cool!

Eww. Keep the ball fountain. The park doesn't need nasty wet kids running around the main midway.

If you have ever seen a set of these fountains during the night, they're quite a spectacular to see. It's too bad that they're replacing the ball fountain though. Wonder if they'll put it up for auction? :)

After watching the video, I have concluded that there is no way CP will be able to maintain something like that. I give it a few months before it's just a puddle on the ground with a few small bubbling spots coming out of it.

Venice, Florida has one too. I'm sure if a city can take care of one, Cedar Point can. The only bad thing is that there's going to be a small permanent building in the midway now that houses the controls and pumps.

Even my very own municipality of Cuyahoga Falls has a seasonal fountain area like that.

My guess would be either the Custard stand or Sketch stand will go away for the pumps building.

Better than the overweight hillbillies in tank tops and jeans riding snake river falls.
I'm looking forward to the new fountains I think it's a great idea. Looking forward to watching my niece and nephew run through the new fountain. I actually think the ball fountain is pretty ugly but I admit I would like to see it relocated.
;) Are the kids required to wear a life vest? ;)
;) Will there be a life guard on duty?;)
Sounds like fun! Hopefully it's lighted at night.
