When can we apply?

They will be filling leadership positions shortly after the 15th. Returning leadership will be placed first then they will start with returning base rate employees with leadership apps untill all positions are filled. If not, they may ask other returners if they will accept a leadership position. Of course the lines are fuzzy in that they might choose a good returning base rate employee over a not so good leadership returner.

Leadership would be considered the "blue tags" or the Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leader. They take on much more responsibilities in turn for a small pay raise. They basically supervise a location such as Top Thrill Dragster, Magnum or Peanuts Playground.

ForgottenEE, is the extra quarter an hour worth taking on that responsibility?

I think not.

$.15 for ATL + $.30 for TL = Not worth it.

While it may not be worth it to you, I know that myself and others find it to be worth it. It gives me pride to say that it's my ride location and my crew. I enjoy being someone that a bunch of people turn to when the need something. It also builds a nice resume, I got offered a very nice job, mostly due to my supervising of up to 30 other employees.

I think it would be worth it, not only for the extra $.30 (which can add up when you are the one scheduling yourself for as many hours as you want), but for the satisfaction of knowing you are the one people come to with a question or a problem. So I side with Mat on this one.

I understand your points. But you just bring up the good parts of being in a leadership position. Don't forget about the added headaches and stress that go along with that type of role. And if you don't care for drama, forget it. If a CP leadership role is anything like the real world (and I don't doubt that it is), you'll be dealing with "people issues" and "putting out fires" constantly. And staffing problems, as well.

If you want to do it for the expierance, do it. Just don't expect a lot of finiancial reward in return--especially at an amusement park. .30 more an hour to deal with all that stuff is an insult to the role. I got a $2.00/hour raise when I moved from production to a Team Leader role 9 years ago. Anything under a buck is a slap in the face, IMO.

I agree with mat about the feeling of responsibility and whatnot. But all that you are put through isn't worth the .30 cents an hour. Sure it was nice to be the one incharge of the crew, and it was 'your' crew. But honestly, if I could go back, I wouldn't have done leadership. It is too many headaches and too much BS from sups and managers. Granted there were bright spots, but the way that the managers run CP, they just make things worse.

And to add onto what MrScott said. Leadership or supervisor positions should be on a higher payscale then the regular employees. .30 cents more then the base rate employees isn't saying much. It says they don't care who is incharge because they aren't worth more to do things right.

Thanks, SCarolina01--you reminded me that I forgot to mention those above the TL role. Dealing with some of those (while in the TL role) is much worse than dealing with those that report to you. Yet another headache for the added (small) pay.

I don't know about added responsibilities of being a TL in other departments, but in mine it meant that you could sit in the break area all day long, smoking and talking to whoever was around, under the guise of doing "paperwork." If a supervisor or manager rolled up, you could claim you had just gotten there yourself. But I agree that I would not want to be a TL. I filled in as third-in-charge a few times, and it just felt really weird to be telling my friends what they should be doing...not only that, but they were all my age or else older! I worked with some people who were about twenty years my senior, and I would have felt very strange being "in charge" of them.

Another downside to being TL for the day was that my boyfriend was on my crew at the time. Not wanting to play favorites, I once started going off on him for doing something he shouldn't have been, until he informed me, red-faced, that our supervisor asked him to do it. Thinking back, that was probably the beginning of the end of our relationship...

Mr. Scott, the whole 'drama' thing is what you make of it an how you handle it. The entire year, I only temporarily had one 'drama inducing' person, and it was dealt with right away. I never had people fighting, or gossiping about who slept with who. People loved coming to my ride from other rides because of the environment my crew had made. If you treat yor crew with respect and ask them to do things, instead of ordering them around, you will be amazed at the results. My ATL had the exact same mentality. I had nothing to stress about, even shut downs went well because everyone did their part. Drama and that stuff only goes on if you allow it....

Ride Op '02-'07

Understood. But...is the added responsibility and work worth only .30 an hour? I think not. I think the pay rate for TL's should be higher than that.
