What's wrong with the Midway Market?

We have the all season meal plan and will go there once a trip. We just figure it's cheaper to go there with the upcharge than actually leaving the peninsula to get a break from the lack of variety on the meal plan

When I see other parks meal plans, I question why their flagship park is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to offerings. Also, why there are different "menus" for the single meal plan vs the all day/season plans, where other parks are the same. Doesn't make sense.

Contact a manager of food services, they're usually really good about replying to people.

It may also be intentional. Since cedar point has more full-service restaurant dining options inside and outside of the actual park They may be trying to upsell people to those instead of providing a better level of quick service food . Either way, they really need to step up their customer service.

I actually miss the old Midway Market food that was a staple from the late 90s through 2 years ago. I miss the taco bar, cheeseburgers, etc that were lunch staples for over a decade. The new menu and food provider isn't as good, IMO

Midway Market had some definite issues at the start of the season--no host/hostess to seat people. It was "grab yer stuff and seat yerself!" The buffet tended to be disorganized as though certain foods were brought out and put anywhere there was room with little logic as to location. Though there were two containers of gravy (untouched), there were no potatoes to use the gravy.

It appears to be better organized now. Food-wise, it's an establishment geared to feeding lots of people at once--the quality will never equal a 5-star place. Some things are done very well--the carving spot--usually quite good. Some staff members are very pleasant though a few need some training in customer service. I don't have the food plan but do get the senior price plus discount--not a bad deal really!

Midway Market used to hover between 2.5-3 stars, acceptable for a buffet style restaurant .
The last couple of years it's 1-2.5 on a good day.
Haven't been this year, it's been that bad the last few times, we are not tempted to go back.

I hope it's gotten better, it used to be really nice to cool off, get away and watch the midway

Hearing that the taco bar is gone is enough reason for me to not go back.

Went a couple of times a few weeks ago and both times they had taco meat and tortillas. Grab some cheese and lettuce from the salad bar and your taco is ready.

The fried chicken is still horrible and the inconsistency of the chicken nuggets is hard to figure out. The first two times we went the nuggets were good. The third time they were different and they simply were not good.

I still don't understand why they don't have pizza as that would be something else that most kids, and adults, would eat.

Regarding tips at MM, I ate dinner there last year with my daughter and mother and I decided to tip the employees bussing tables in our area directly. Seemed like the reasonable thing to do since we were getting our own drinks/food.

To reply to the small discussion from 9 years ago-

There is now a Melt at Easton Town Center, in my neck of the woods. EAT THERE IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY. IT IS GODLY. (My personal suggestion is the Mighty Macaroni. Nice thick bread, your choice of cheese, and a BIG OL' PATTY OF DEEP FRIED MAC AND CHEESE. It's unreal, and a half sandwich will more than fill you up.)

The Freestyle machines make MM a pretty good deal. Enjoy one with your meal and take one to go, that's almost $8 just in pop. They were out of ice though.

On the last visit, it was pretty clean and the a/c was a nice cool break. The lasagna was good and so was the ice cream. Wish I could say anything else was good...the carving station was unmanned with just a little dry husk of gray mystery meat on it. The limp, flavorless cooked veggies reminded me of my elementary school cafeteria (not a good comparison.) Most everything else was old-looking and overcooked, from the hot dogs to the bread. Overall, I'd rate it about 2 stars.

Unrelated, I miss CiCi's pizza buffet on Route 250. That was an inexpensive stop on the way home.

Just say no to trims

I used to eat at Midway Market for the taco bar, pizza, and cheeseburgers. Last year they had none of them. Glad to see they have the taco bar again.

I also used to like when the donuts from Donut Time would make their way over to the dessert bar at MM.
