Whats with parents and CP?

heres an inspiring story.. my dad's friends actually met at cedarpoint and ended up getting married a year later.. :) they are still happily married.. but my dad can't ride coasters like he used to because he has high blood pressure..my mom can but i dont wanna ride with her.. i remember when we went to cedar point last year me and my best friend rode the corkscrew 20 times..i thought i was gonna puke!! LOL :)

I'm with you dinosaur. My 17 year old will rarely go. My 19 year loves it, but between work and school she can't make as many trips as she would like.

So, it's just me and this other middle-aged kid that go on most of the trips. We closed it down last year, and we'll open it up on May 5 this year - with no kids.

The two favorite memories with taking my mom to the park was getting a ride on Magnum in 13 with the trims open on a hot August day! She walked off the ride going "wow now I know why you like that ride so much!"

Last year when my parents made the trip to the park, I got them on all the coasters. On our first trip in '98, they chickened out on Mantis and Magnum. Anyway, right as our Magnum train blasted out of the third tunnel my dad said to me, "You're right, this Ride is more fun than Millennium!" My mom still said she preferred Millennium Force, but what can you do? :)

Just yesterday my mom went off on me because "It's not normal to be obsessed with Cedar Point". I find my parents to be very unaccepting of my love for CP. My mom loves the coasters, and enjoys her yearly trip with me. She thinks once a year is enough, and doesn't see the point in me going 16 more times, but I go anyway. I think the problem is that they just find it "unusual" to like CP. They have no problem with my brother thinking ESPN is the only channel on TV, but obsession with sports is more common I guess.

And riding a rollercoaster 100 times in one day is not a sport? :)

As one of the "senior" GTTP'ers (and parent of 2 great daughters, 19 and 12) I may be one of the exceptions to the rule as a parent then. MANY trips I leave the kids home and do solo or meet up with GTTP'ers at CP. Ask anyone about keeping up with me at the Po!nt. I've even beat my youngest (who is one of my fav coaster buds) to MF during the running of the bulls! :) NO one in my family, was into coasters/amusement parks when I was a kid. My fondest memories of riding coasters is riding them alone while my Mom, Dad or brother watched. In case you're wondering who goes to CP and watches ALL the shows, that's where you'll find MY Mom any time she went with us. And even at MY age every time I'd come off Raptor and tell her I was going again, she would shake her head and say "you're out of your mind".
Yes I am-and your point?
Cedar Po!nt!!! ;) (sorry-HAD to say that! :))
So I dont think it is a "parent" issue persay as an individual issue since THIS resident Mom, despite her age, despite her own kids sometimes thinking she is nuts, adores CP, always have, ALWAYS will! :)
